TomVH: Three Recruiting Notes **Update**
K Matt Goudis told me he's committed for now, but will be visiting Miami next weekend the 14th.
Dallas Crawford told me tonight that Michigan still leads. There is a rumor that he might be visiting Miami soon too. Michigan hiring Les Miles would help with Dallas.
I also spoke with Kris Frost tonight. He said he talked to one of the Auburn coaches this evening, and is expecting a phone call tomorrow from Gene Chizik. The phone call tomorrow will be when he finds out if Auburn accepts his commitment or not.
He said he was really upset when Michigan decided to fire Rich Rodriguez. He also said it's looking like Michigan may be out of it completely. The coaching change took a lot out of him, and he's not sure where they stand right now. It's obviously tough for Michigan because no one can call him right now to talk him out of it. We'll see what happens.

Any chance he would help with any of the ones we lost today?
January 9th, 2011 at 12:23 AM ^
Can't David Brandon pick up the phone to a couple of these recruits and let them know about his "master plan" and reassure them about their decision to come to Michigan?
It seems like the least he could do.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:29 AM ^
I don't think he's allowed to do that. He can talk with them if they're on campus, but he can't recruit otherwise.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
He has more important things to be doing

January 8th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
Blood pressure is what raises my avatar.
(It's normal to call it that, right?)
January 9th, 2011 at 1:32 AM ^
raise my blood pressure
January 8th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
Josh groban "lifts up" your blood pressure as well correct?
January 9th, 2011 at 2:25 AM ^
Groban = You Raise Me Up, not You Lift Me Up.
January 10th, 2011 at 11:22 AM ^
I'm sick of people misquoting my work!

January 8th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Tom, if we hire either Miles or Patterson, is there a chance we land frost? Or has that door closed?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Nice, solid news. Tom- Sorry to put you on the spot, but what's your take? Do you have a coaching preference?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
He brings in players and he wins. He is blatantly unethical but does not allow the use of used cars (one step ahead of Tressel). He has the highest HDL level in the Big Ten (sorry Dantonio).
Plus he doesn't really care of Goudis comes here because the Mad Hatter NEVER ACTUALLY KICKS FIELD GOALS.
Hey Goudis - you know how to throw a flip bounce lateral over your head?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:55 PM ^
LSU's kicker made 26 field goals this year.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:00 AM ^
like half of what bend it like broekhuizen made
January 9th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
All the trick plays are through the holder? THAT MAD SON OF A BITCH....
He's gone King George III on us - crazy bastard....
January 8th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
miami is having a huge recruiting weekend, 14ish spots to fill have something like 40 recruits coming to town. That maybe the last big event before the dead period before recruiting becomes a bit clearer everywhere
January 9th, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
Miami's recruiting situation is similar to ours. They have a coach, but at this time only have 8 commits. It looks like more are on the way, hopefully not Crawford or Goudis.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:58 AM ^
I am not sure exactly who they're targeting but talking with miami fans today they expect it to be defense heavy. Haven't seen much on what recruits think of golden yet so I have no idea what to expect myself
January 9th, 2011 at 4:43 AM ^
I can't believe that Miami fans were excited about the Golden hire. Cane fans were probably expecting a big name hire.
BTW, what is going on with the Aaron Lynch kid? Is he going to switch to ND?
January 10th, 2011 at 8:25 PM ^
supposed to be at freshman orientation this weekend
January 8th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
And Thanks! How come youre always on target and Joe Schad is out in left field?
January 9th, 2011 at 12:07 AM ^
Because Tom actually talks to the people he's updating us on.
Schad just retweets or makes sh!t up based on what he speculates to be likely.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:47 AM ^
Retweeting has made people not responsible for "news" they break.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
I had a bad feeling about this thread when I clicked. Thankfully it's not horribly bad.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
This past week has just made me sick.
I never thought I would be sitting here wondering if Michigan hiring Les Miles would help our chances retaining currently committed recruits.
I think I'm gonna throw up.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:56 PM ^
Tom, thanks for the info. Good to hear that Miles would help with Dallas. Any other recruits he would help with? Frost, etc?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:58 PM ^
Get us Frost for sure - unfortunately that will force us to grayshirt David Cone. I don't know if that is trade worth doing....
January 8th, 2011 at 11:57 PM ^
No one needs to see the chunks on the floor bro - then we'll all throw up. Chain reaction...
Oh wait Joe Schad just tweeted:
Miami recruits all to be hosted by Luther Campbell. Recruits appetite for love to be satisfied.
Unsure what that means exactly....
January 9th, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^
OH WAIT I LIED I SPELLED SCHAD RIGHT BUT IT'S MORE THAN 150 CHARACTERS.
January 9th, 2011 at 1:16 AM ^
oops
January 9th, 2011 at 1:42 AM ^
This is now the worst thing you have ever done
January 9th, 2011 at 12:02 AM ^
Well...what can we say.... who comes & goes will be known come NSD.................
January 9th, 2011 at 12:07 AM ^
Usually I like Tom's post but I have a feeling they aren't going to be very uplifting these next few weeks. Thanks anyways Tom.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:12 AM ^
If UM grabs a big name coach then a I see a few recruits coming back to UM. DB has a to nail it with this one otherwise recruiting will take a bigger hit.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:17 AM ^
The next coach will just come in and develop our current kickers that have been oh so horribly mismanaged by RR, right?
No?
January 9th, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
Didn't he have an LSU hat on the table today?
January 9th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
can just concentrate on getting the 18 of 22 returning starters back next year, it will go a long way for us. Our team is really young right now, and this recruiting class isn't the end of the world. At the end of the day, it will be full of 3-4 star guys who we probably won't see much of for a couple years.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
No matter who we retain we will have little to no seniors in 4 years. It's devastating. At this rate we will have a younger than average team for the foreseeable future. It's simply not an option if we ever want to return to glory.
If we are ND might as well start taking on their stupid sayings.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:51 AM ^
Last year UT (Tennessee) hired derek dooley and picked up 13 pledges after the army game with 5 four stars and a 5 star.
there is still hope my friends

We might be completely out of it for Frost? I said this on another thread but WTF God please stop youre being an ass. When will it be dawn?
January 9th, 2011 at 12:41 AM ^
Will Frost be enorolling before NSD? This seems like a major factor in his likely destination.
