Is that a quote from David Brandon?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
He's been in my office, under my desk, using his "pimp hand" on me all afternoon. He made me not tell because, you know, he keeps what he's up to very quiet and makes it seem like he's got it all under control.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
You know, that would probably go over a lot better with fans than what ever it was that he actually did.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
I am interested in knowing what Brian's realistic expectations are for this coaching search. Outside of his hate for Hoke what realistic options would he be optimally happy at this point with?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
T or F
When I look ahead to the future, I expect I will be happier than I am now.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
Don't worry, I heard the "PIMP HAND" makes up for the 2 month block of recruiting he just killed with the process.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
I heard there was a Michigan plane flying towards the Golden Gate bridge. Is this true?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
Yes... it crashed and burned... DB is going into sushi restaurants for his next venture.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
Hey, waiter, these are just uncooked squares of Domino's pizza?!?!
January 7th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
Is there a way I can get on the next flight heading into the Golden Gate Bridge?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
Pimp hand my ass.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
...but the idea is for the M plane to fly INTO the bridge.
Look, Harbaugh made the best decision and I don't blame him. If I were a coach right now, I'd not consider UM. I think the PC school that Michigan is does all it can to make things hard on a coach. And you can bet that any guy being considered is going to call RichRod to get his opinion on the matter. Do you think RichRod is going to be kind? I have no clue as to who will be the next coach but he'll need all the luck he can get.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
"I think the PC school that Michigan is does all it can to make things hard on a coach."
With all respect, WTF do you mean by that? Do you think RichRod was done in by hippies at the School of Natural Resources?
Au contraire, I'd guess that most of the the mouth-breathing Michigan Men (who may overlap with the Hokey Poke crew) are probably non-PC.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
when Bo was hired. Didn't seem to cause him any problems.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
exactly what he means by the PC bullshit that goes on at UM. Don't play dumb on this one.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
don't be dumb then. What does the 'PC' aspect of the U have to do with making it hard for the coach? It was rich, old alumnae and Carr loyalists, along with the Detroit Jihadist "Journalists" that made it hard for RR, not liberals....
Andrew Shirvell, is that you? didn't they take away your computer or something?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
I don't "cow tow" to everything UM does, means I'm Shirvell? Get a life. Instead of the neg button, I need a punch in the throat button. I'm done with you.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
the intelligent 'punch in the throat' response, well done, thanks for coming internet tough guy
....and who said anything about having you 'cow tow' to anything.....defensive much? and for the record, smart guy...it is kowtow if you are referring to the Chinese custom of kneeling to show respect...so, yeah, that fits well, excellent vocabulary you have there.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
..and correct me if I am wrong, but weren't you referring to the effete, classist and elitist, upper-middle class segment of the M fan base that reacted reprehensibly to RR from the day he set foot on campus. His accent and his wife's wardrobe immediately disqualified him. In my opinion, their deplorable behavior says a lot about them and it makes me glad I live in San Francisco where we have a whole different set of effete, classist and elitist upper-middle class people.
That is different from PC, or politically correct, which would be a label applied to the more extreme liberal sorts of causes that can perhaps seem a bit over the top.
If you are going to harsh on a group of peopler and label them, at least get your labels right. i don't think 'politically correct' has anything to do with RR and his tenure.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
No, he meant PC, politically correct, I think. Think MSC and her antics .... need I say more?
Hmm, must be a lot different in San Fran than SoCal. People are complete morons down here.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
What does MS and her 'antics' (whatever the hell you mean by that, I think she is pretty much beyond reproach in running the U, if you are trying to impugn her rep there, you are on shaky ground) have to do with RR and his coaching tenure?
Please connect the RR fiasco and politically correct...
January 7th, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
think MSC and the U of M's outlook, in general (being overly PC), disqualifies certain head football coaches from consideration, I don't know what to tell you man.
Has nothing to do with RR, not sure what you're getting at. Maybe you misread the original post.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:30 PM ^
What other coaches does this 'overly PC' outlook disqualify? If it should be so easy for me to see, you should have lots of examples. One?
If you think Harbaugh was disqualified by MSC and her 'politicaly correct antics,' then you see the world through a very strange filter my friend. Harbaugh summarily turned down any advance or offer from M because he doesn't want to gamble his career on a half-rebuilt team that he would need to start over in terms of rebuilding. Plain and simple. If you have any shred of evidence to the contrary I am all ears..link please.
RR was a coach at UM, the quote we are discussing is, 'I think the PC school that Michigan is does all it can to make things hard on a coach,' thusly it would stand that this political correctness to which you refer would have made things difficult for him. So...do tell....how?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
More PC than Stanford?! It has a *tree* for a mascot.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
I can understand how someone might think that given the current situation Harbaugh was probably smart to avoid Michigan, but I have a hard time seeing how working for the crazies at the Niners is the best move. I'm sure Jim knows plenty I don't know, but it just seems strange. If it were me, I'd stay at Stanford long before I got wrapped up with that jacked up organization.
January 7th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
although I guess up-rooting your family factors into that, especially if you just had a baby.
January 7th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
Have to agree, having a newborn must have played a factor in not wanting to move out of the Bay Area. I'm very disappointed that Harbaugh is not coming back to Ann Arbor, but if this was a factor (which I'm sure it was), I can surely respect that.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
I'm not going to remember much from this weekend from all the drinking
January 7th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
Word. I go back to school. Liver will be busier than Dave Brandon.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
Is there any merit to this? Has there been any credible sources on his interest or contact? I think he would be great, but it is not worth discussing unless we know he is at least looking at getting back into coaching. Anyone?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
I think his name gets thrown around because he would be a big name hire. I dare to dream.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
Someone posted on here that a credible source told him Gruden is looking for a house in Ann Arbor area.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
How many times have we heard that (insert coach here) was seen shopping for a house in Ann Arbor? There's no way that would even happen until after everything is official.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
I know, i've heard this about a few coaches over the last few days, I'm just explaining what I've seen on the board. Don't shoot the messenger.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
I’ve seen crazy rumors like Bill Belichick is looking for a house in Ann Arbor. Message board rumors are not to be trusted.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
It was rumors like these that caused Madison Square Garden's Stock to rise 15% (or something like that) the day before LeBron announced his talents were going to South Beach.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
I actually heard multiple people say Leach on a thread this week. This should end that:
January 7th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
I haven't seen any credible sources for this. When Jon Gruden is mentioned it's usually Bleacher Report, which gives wikipedia a good name.
The most interesting thing I have seen is that the flight to Arizona could be for Jon Gruden instead of Harbaugh. Supposedly, he is covering the National Championship game for ESPN Radio. Seems far-fetched but so does everything else...

He has to run out of the tunnel each game wearing a Hokeamania t-shirt only to rip the shirt in half right before kickoff and coach the rest of the game topless.
If he does that, I will support the hire unconditionally.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
Propose he create his own finishing move, the Hokeslam, where after a victory, instead of a postgame handshake he chokeslams the opposing coach (including JoePa), takes out a can of maize spray paint, and paints a big Block M on the opposing coach's torso.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
as assistant coaches. They can "tag in" and help Brady take care of business when needed.
