I don't get it either. Pro coaches and athletes <> college. The jobs are very different. Recruiting\evaluating and motivation are just not the same.

Weis was not a HC before coming to ND either, IIRC. But he was a hell of a recruiter, just couldn't get everything together.

Gruden started in the college ranks. Grad Assistant at Tennessee, QB Coach at Southeast Missouri St (powerhouse...!), TE Coach at University of the Pacific, and finally WR coach at Pitt before he was hired by Holmgren.
Plus, the dude is about as awesome as awesome gets.

Just curious - mostly because I am too lazy to look it up - did Pete Caroll coach at the college ranks prior to USC? And, if so, how does his experience compare to Gruden's?

He was a University of Pacific with our good friend GERG. Also Wikipedia also shows Arkansas, Iowa State and NC State.

How do you know there is a 0% chance? Link please. I am not trying to sound like an asshat but still it is possible. It's either think about a real coach coming here or Hoke, I would much rather think about Gruden and then worry about it when it is Hoke that is our coach.

I get ya. I just think he is one guy that is worth looking at. It can't hurt, especially not now. I just think that he could bring more to the table than some of the other guys out there that everyone is speculating on. He seems to have the fire and personality of someone that would be a good HC and his prior HC experience doesn't hurt, I know it was in the NFL but that counts for something, IMO.
