Negged for not acknowledging the power I wield. Unless nothing happens when I hit "save," and then self-negged for hubris.

EDIT: I changed my mind. MGoBlog should be a neg-free zone at least until the collective binge drink wears off.

My gut feeling is JH was interested until THE BOWL WIN put him at the top of the world and he may have verbally committed and then Dee-committed, putting DB in an unanticipated quandry. DB will still wait until it's proven JH has signed with another team before he starts plan B. Miracles may occur. Look ! A flying pig !

But that's the point.  If DB;s statements are taken at face value and the search IS only a couple of hours old, then he screwed this up already.  In fact, if he isn't getting JH, then there was no need for the delay in the first place and he should have made this move in November.  After losing part of the 2008 class and having massive attrition, we cannot affort a "lost recruiting class" which is exactly what we are now guaranteed.  Guaranteed - there is no scenario (even JH) in which we do not lose a few recruits AND fail to close on the few kids still considering us.

But, putting the who insane time table aside for a second, even if he wanted to wait to "evaluate" RR under now, he should have lined up coaching replacement because he certainly knew that there was a non-zero chance that he would be firing RR.  He didn;t have to name a replacement at the presser, but he should have been far along in his search and been able to have someone in place by the LATEST Friday so that the new coach and his staff can hit the recruiting trail ASAP!

Major fail, DB.

If we manage to lure JH, he'll bring some of his own recruits and find others based on how hot he is right now. Otherwise, not only is this recruiting class down the drain, but we'll have significant attrition from current players.

Plane, meet mountain.

For the record, I don't actually take his comments at face value.  I recommend waiting and seeing what happens.  (And I recommend doing the same after the new coach is announced.)

Evidence of the major fail to me is in the cancelled recruiting visits this weekend.  If there's a plan A or B, someone in the works, just a few i's to dot on the contract, then why cancel the visits?  This was the thing that worried me most from the press conference.

You'd think RR was a wife beating, dog fighting, serial rapist or something with the way some people treat him. I believe another poster in another thread said it best: "Brock Mealer (and the kids at Motts) would (not so) kindly tell them to fuck off". Parentheses are my little additions.

All the guy did was take a job he didn't solicit from the best, most storied program in CFB and tried to help it along during a somewhat rocky stretch. That fucking bastard!

fuck him... /s

Anybody who throws RR under the bus should no longer associate themselves as fan of the University of Michigan. I am sad today not only because of the turmoil on the football program but, how genuinely bad I feel for Rich Rodriguez, his family, his staff, and the players.

rodriguez initiated contact with michigan, for the job, not vice versa.  he wanted to see if he could work here.  don't feel sorry for him.

RR went through a lot, so you can question whether that 2.5mm was earned or not.  I feel bad for him, not everything is about money, his kids and Ms. Rita went through enough.  If the story about the kids getting harassed in school, true?  If so, the 2.5mm wasn't enough.

I feel bad for us.  RR will get another job, maybe before we get another coach.  However, the next coach will know that he needs to win right away or things will get worse unless he is a Michigan Man.  That meme and the wrong interpretation by the MSM is destroying this program.

so how exactly is any new coach going to win with no recruits this year and the myriad of transfers that WILL happen very soon along with martin now definitely entering the draft? We know tate's gone, denard will leave no question, and devin is a spread QB who more than likely is gone. I was never sure of dave brandon considering dominoes pizza was one of the worst pizzas and franchises in history, this confirms my suspicions. How many Rodriguez hating hypocrites here are going to be preaching patience when it takes at least 3, I'd actually say 4 more years, to see a bowl game again? Notre Dame is pointing northeast and laughing.

Did you get the impression that I was a RR hater from my post?  I guess I wrote that wrong or your interpretation is off.  Actually a RR supporter, thought he should get at least 4 years, but can't blame the people who weren't willing to give him that extra year.

I am disgusted that people were against RR when he was hired initially.   I am sick of the Michigan Man term that has been misused by the MSM.  I want the best coach, I don't care if he went to OSU.

I don't even want to start talking about the recruiting class.  I always thought that if you are going to fire RR, do it after OSU.  I am not going to call this a disaster, but we are close.

When you're the lead man in a bad corporation, it reflects on you, i.e. ken lay-enron, the tyco ceo who I can't think of at the moment and dominoes-DB. when he took the michigan job, the new leadership ran the series of "our pizzas suck serious #@&# and we're changing everything" ads.

He'll get all the coffee he wants if his HC hire turns out to somehow miracle our ass up into the upper echelons of college football again. But...it'll be brewing for a loooong time before it gets served (if ever).

While I am trying to give DB the benefit of doubt in that he has a plan in place, where I think he has failed is in communication. He has literally millions of people, including alumni and fans, hanging on his every word and yet does not communicate that he has been diligently pursuing coaching options should it not work out with RR. He doesn't need to name names, but I would feel better about the situation if he demonstrated his understanding of the urgency of the situation. It seems as though he is just starting a search today, if that's true, I think he has failed. If that's not true, he needs to communicate it with all us crazies speculating our asses off. A little more information from him would go a long way.

If he left people waiting with uncertainty at a corporation for two months, productivity would grind to a halt with speculation. Clearly we've done that here and our own companies have probably lost productivity! I'm disappointed that a former CEO handled it this way, with an artificial timeline, before starting a search. I *hope* the non-communication is because he has a sensitive plan that results in a great coach but unless something big happens soon, we'll probably never know the reason.

I really don't care who coaches the team. I am an M fan and whoever the coach is that's my coach. With that being said, I can't believe that DB had no clue that he was firing RR and if so he should have had more than just a friggin list. Mark my words, if DB doesn't pull his head out of his arse soon we are going to lose recruits and games faster and more frequently than a columbus oh 13 y/o loses her virginity to a relative.

BTW: Thanks Brian for turning us back on. Yesterday was painfull. I felt like an Mgomime and no matter how I tried I couldn't get out of my imaginary box.

Did JH pimp us? Did DB think he had JH (bleeding maize and blue) wrapped up? Will DB pull a rabbit out of his hat? God this is bad!

Put yourself in the shoes as a parent of a recruit - what are you thinking right now? The visits for this weekend have been cancelled. No coaching decision on the horizon. You son needs to make a decision!!! Who would still come here with the uncertainty.

Time to drink and pray that a big time savior walks through the door. No Brady Hoke please.
