JH: Harbaugh Watch Day 1

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

In the interest of limiting the discussion to less than 1000 threads (and create a timeline that should be interesting to look back on in the future), please contain developments (non-monumental of course) to this post. Avoid sniping, pro or con, as Michigan undoubtedly pursues Jim after his successful Orange Bowl win.

Should be interesting.

Maybe this should be called "Harbaugh/Hoke Watch", just to make it seem like we're not putting all our eggs in one basket.

Why would he have to wait for Harbaugh's season to finish to fire Rodriguez (assuming Rodriguez is gone no matter what and Hoke and others are viable options in the event Harbaugh declines)?  The Broncos didn't.  Neither did the Niners.  We also know we can get Hoke at pretty much any time we want to.  When Michigan is the third or fourth job mentioned in association with Jim's name, I find it hard to believe that Brandon felt the need to leave Rodriguez in limbo in deference to Harbaugh but will fire him anyway even if Harbaugh isn't interested.

I think Brandon is a lot smarter than to go through all this and then all of a sudden announce Brady Hoke as the new head coach.

"I love him so much"??

Guys are loving a guy who might not want to coach here and hate on a guy who probably hasn't slept in 3 years trying to win for Michigan.

This is not directed at you specifically, but this process has definitely made me see a side of Michigan Football fans I for one am not proud of. Rich Rod hasn't even been fired yet.

I would love for DB to keep RR just so all the JH Bandwagon-RR hating Michigan Fans' heads' explode. I will just laugh...

Here's to hoping our fans show some respect and support our Coach next time... Cheers MGoHaters

sidelines before the game and based on what he hears others saying, he believes he's going to the NFL.

HArbaugh certainly is doing a great job of dodging any questions about his future plans.

Harbaugh had the mic and was like "and now I want to name the MVP, Andrew Luck", setting it up so Davis can talk to him.

Davis responds with a question while JH is on the podium asking him about his coaching future.

JH replies "I just ask you to respect the game and the players..."

Just seeing the way he runs his team, and the team itself. But the one team Harbaugh lost to was Oregon....

Nevertheless, if Harbaugh was hired I would be pleased, but it should be either RR or Harbaugh. DB shouldn't make a change just to make a change, if Harbaugh is not available. Then we should keep RR.

I've seen a couple people say that and i completely agree.

That reminds me of 07 when I wanted either Les or Lloyd. And not long after that I was a huge Rrod supporter and was thankful we didn't get Les.

The "rrod" in this situation in '10 would be Hoke/Fitzgerald/someone unforeseen but there's no way i want any of that.

Harbaugh is the head coach or Rrod with new Defensive staff and a 2 yr extension so he can recruit like he should be able to recruit (Let's not forget the classes he's brought in under these circumstances the last 3 years).

Not that it matters but just for the record so there's no misinterpretation... i'm about 50/50 on this one, trying to hold on to some semblance of what i've staunchly supported RR with for the past 3 years.

I could get used to this whole Character and Cruelty thing.

Good idea. The kind of buzz the guy is generating, this thread will soon be the online equivalent of the Library of Congress.

I have to say that Harbaugh is giving the reporters the stiff arm about his future, and I like it. Whether he picks us or the NFL, he will make your grandmama wanna get out of her wheelchair and play for him.

Given how he pre-emptively avoided the opportunity to even be questioned about his future after the game (gave Tafoya 5 seconds and then pawned her off on Luck and shut down question on podium) there is no way he is going to be back at Stanford next year.  Hopefully this means DB has done his work and there is nothing for JH to even decide at this point.

Is this where I say book it?
