OT-Gators want Weis for OC

How about bringing the schematic advantage to Gainesville?

Yeah I just noticed that off EDSBS' twitter
He's better than Addazzio for sure but I don't know much more than that
December 31st, 2010 at 2:55 PM ^
A bowl of pudding would be better than Addazzio. So yeah, Weis might be a great fit...
December 31st, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
If you've got a bowl of pudding and Weis at the same place at the same time, that bowl of pudding isn't going to be around for long.

Is a top-flight assistant. Despite his head coaching failures, this is a good OC hire.
<br>Can't see Dee going there. It looks like Michigan or Alabama.

for a college job?
December 31st, 2010 at 2:52 PM ^
Where recruiting is just as important as X's and O's. It seemed like Charlie had good recruiters, read Cornflakes Brown, working for him; so that he did not have to leave South Bend.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
he can make more $$$ in the pros and he is the OC for a young team with a lot of good pieces in place. this would be a step backwards unless he wanted another shot at a college head coaching gig (which I bet even he would say he wouldn't).
December 31st, 2010 at 3:26 PM ^
I would doubt that considering how well the team is doing. The only possibility would be if Haley is actually pulling the strings with the offense. Charlie came in to "fix" the QB, however most announcers/analysts have credited Haley with the play of Cassell. Who knows.

to start the swamp expansion to accomodate room for chucky?
December 31st, 2010 at 3:03 PM ^
Charlie Weis would be a great OC. I almost hope they don't get him.

for all weis's failings as a teacher and all the noise generated about his self-proclaimed genius, he was an excellent offensive coordinator. he had his all-too-frequent moments of being overly clever (particularly with college kids), but he turned a truly moribund offense into an excellent one overnight.
in 3 of his 5 seasons, the offense performed at a top notch level. if he could ever figure out how to teach kids to block/tackle and generally to motivate college kids, he would have succeeded as a head coach. while certainly unpopular here, weis and rich rod have quite a bit in common, particularly in terms of their failings.
his motivation is interesting. if this comes to pass, i'd love to hear what he had to say. at times i believed that he really preferred coaching college kids (even if he wasn't as good at it) and this would certainly fit with that interpretation.

Came here to post this article. I don't get the logic behind it.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
I feel like he's great at coaching players that are already talented, like those in the NFL, or when he inherited Brady Quinn and the players developed by Willingham at ND. However, I highly question his ability to actually develop players, which is key to being successful in college football.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
Maybe he'll lose som pounds because of the heat.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:23 PM ^
he logically thinks that he will due to the heat and humidity. I think he will eat twice as much to reward himself for thinking that he's losing weight.

Walking up the stairs is worth one donut.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
ESPN had mentioned something a few days ago that if Weiss were leave that Pioli might bring inhis old N.E. buddy Josh McDaniel.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:23 PM ^
I could see why Muschamp, being a first-time HC and a D guy, would want an experienced offensive ace. And Weis certainly is experienced and talented on that side of the ball (er, schematically and whatnot). But Weis is a pompous, arrogant old know-it-all. Inevitably, he'd think of himself as the real head-coach. That's a collision waiting to happen. I'd enjoy waiting for it. Like watching Nascar.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:26 PM ^
As a Chiefs fan, I hope he stays.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:44 PM ^
Living here in KC one of the more interesting quotes from Weis as he was hired for OC of the Chiefs was that he was coming back to the pro game where he felt both respected and appreciated. I am of the opinion that being he will be paid by ND for the next 3 years, is doing well and has gained back his credebility right where he is at I do not see him leaving for another college job at even a head coaching position let alone as an assistant.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:30 PM ^
His team is successful in the NFL, he's making more money, and he already bombed at his dream college job, so why would he want another when he could work towards an NFL head job? He can always say it wasn't scheme but all the other stuff (recruiting, academics, alumni, etc) that made him fail in college, but Mr. GM, if you get me talent, I will so win games with them.

December 31st, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
As an OC, this would be an outstanding hire honestly.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:45 PM ^
is known as one of the BBQ capitals of the country, no way he leaves that.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:47 PM ^
It's a more prominent position nationally and I've heard Charlie likes his nude beaches
December 31st, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
... the lone item Charlie FUPA is holding out for:
a jaunty orange-and-blue umbrella for his Amigo:
(using aluminum cane provides decided schematic advantage).

Kansas City is a young and exciting team........Florida is a great place to coach but I'd have a hard time seeing him leave KC after one year.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
Just 1 more reason to hate Florida
December 31st, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
if the new florida coaching staff was reincarnated in the form of pokemon... so far they would be Machamp and Snorlax
December 31st, 2010 at 4:36 PM ^
This is the same way he got his ludicrous extention from ND by pretending to take another job. At least his agent knows how to call plays properly.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:45 PM ^
Well, ND fans constantly told us that Weis was the only reason Tom Brady won all those Super Bowls. So, I guess this would be a good hire for the Gators, right?
December 31st, 2010 at 6:19 PM ^
I cannot wait to watch Muschamp, Al Golden, and Jimbo Fisher SLUG. IT. OUT. in Recruiting, Coaches, everything, over the next few years.
December 31st, 2010 at 8:21 PM ^
Beiber??? really????
