That may have been the best effort I've seen since the NCAA tourney games against Clemson and OU in 2009.

When (if) we hit 3s early, the whole floor opens up,  suddenly lanes to the basket are availble, and the draw and dish is there.  The whole game changes.

The organiztion,  hustle and effort on D was really good as well.

Lots of fun!

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

this year, although I haven't been able to see every game.  It was a physical game on a par with the Big Ten -- that was a Big Ten officiating crew, right?

You are exactly right about hitting threes to open up the whole offense.

Almost too many good things to say about too many guys.  Horford played great while getting limited minutes.  Tim Hardaway Jr. was good.  Morris solid; Novak played hard.

We need to rebound better, and we need to make quicker, crisper passes.  But this team can win some Big Ten games.

Mostly, I got a huge kick out of how well Oakland U. played in the first half.  One of the better halves of basketball I've seen at Crisler in 2 or 3 years.

The team played a full game. They played well in both halves against a very good team. Great game and I keep getting more excited about this team!

Good to see good basketball being played by a team I root for. Currently watching CMU piss themself against Detriot, down 22 with 8 to play. Trey Zeigler and the rest of team look talented but young, which they are for the most part. However with 4 seniors and all that young talent, the elder Zeigler looks like he is being outcoached badly this year.

Smotrcyz is a potential difference maker because of his size, shot and smarts(?).  He hasn't earned the attention that the other starters have earned, but he really makes us bigger, and adds another prospective shooter.  With a 6'9" wing (ES) and Morgan or Horford inside, we actually have a little bit of size on the court.

Granted he has been inconsistant so far, but he is just a freshman.  We'll see how he develops, but he shows glimpses of real potential.  Today he showed some fiestiness too.

He seems to made for teh Beiline system.

has no marquee wins.  Their best win is Clemson on the road but it's not a marquee win.  Michigan has no bad losses to their credit.  However, given their non-conference schedule and wins, Michigan probably needs to win at least 10 conference games (9 if they upset Kansas).  They're not a NCAA tourney as of now.  NIT is a definite possibility.

I love the way this team plays - smart, with loads of energy and hustle, and with passion.  Early expectations were very low and still remain in check.  This makes every outstanding performance like today's even more fun to watch.

I'm very excited to see the B1G season roll out.  This team actually has some potential to make it interesting.

Kudos to the young fellas and to coach Beilein.

First, let me start this off with saying that I don't buy anything the media-war machine ESPN tries to hype up.  However, they are considered "public" opinion and can sway the masses.  So that is why this find from ESPN is a gem:

Other games and performances of note: Michigan handled that tough Oakland team in Ann Arbor. We might need to start giving the Wolverines a little more attention as a potential NCAA tournament team out of the Big Ten

So I didn't want to start a full thread about it, though someone probably will.

But that pass was on SC's top 10. I think it was 4th or 3rd. Pretty awesome to get some recognition

This was the first game I was able to watch start to finish.  I've been able to catch chunks of most games this season, but even in my limited viewing I do like this team (and coach).  I'm not sure this is a tourney team yet, but in all the years Beilein has been at Michigan, it seems like this bunch is getting his system the best.  The tournament team of two years ago had talent, but still didn't feel like they were running what Beilein wanted.

I'm not a basketball mind by any means, but I think a stronger post guy on offense will do this team wonders (ala Pittsnoggle of WVU lore).  It'll draw the defense inside and they'll have better options to kick it out to shooters like Novak, Douglass and the like.  Since Darius Morris strikes me as the only supreme athlete on the court for Michigan (although I like what Hardaway can bring down the road), they seem like an easy O for good teams to defend against.  Key up on shooters and Morris and it'll be tough for us to score.

The Defense is strong and disciplined, no doubt about it and it will certainly lead to a few upsets (MSU actually seems do-able).

Greater basketball minds... please tell me if I'm too pessimistic about our inside presense on offense.

This is a team that has no stars and not a lot of expectations by media, coaches - and should not have any set by us.  They're rebuilding.

My own rules for the 2010 - 2011 season.\

1.  Don't get too high.

2.  Don't get too low.

3.  Turn out for their games.  Most of us can make a game every now and then, but dont.  Change that.

4.  Cheer for them regardless of how they perform.

5.  Be happy for the kids when they win.  They work hard.

So those are my personal rules... I am open to comments.  Go Blue.
