Moderator Action Sticky

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

New Thread.

I wake up this morning and see the post asking Mgobloggers to not post NSFW got 302 responses - wow.  But I cant read any of them which leads to a question.  Did you pull the responses only but the leave the OP up for voting purposes?  Or, is there some other reason for my inability to see any of the thoughts of the blog to this request?

Thanks - dying of curiosity what happened there but it sure looks like it was quite a night on that thread.

Can one of you please go to the Brandon's delay hurting recruiting thread and get the asshat posting simulated porn off the board?  Or kill him?  Or both?

Thank you.

His involvement in UM sports, allegations, unfounded rumors, etc. have affected this team and fanbase immensely over the last few years. Also, it was a fun time for everyone to revel and enjoy the news. Plus, how is that worse than all the "CC" posts that regurgitate the same information and invite trolls, even if it was an "OT" post?

Sharp was fired from his radio program on WDFN. The schedule will now be Baligian and Killer in the afternoon and Shep in the morning.  Sharp is still an active member of the Freep though. It's not the hugest news, but it was still enjoyable for the rest of us for all the venom he's spewed over the years.

There is a thread on the front page that makes light of a rape case regarding a Notre Dame female. Not only is this off topic and not dealing with Michigan, it is extremely offensive since the OP has made light of it as well as some of the comments.

early Dec I was about to give a donation to MGOBLOG for Christmas, but lately the threads and comments have gone way beyond the pale.

Many threads are filled with insults, profanity, NSF pictures.

This blog is degenerating fast.

I used to show my 8 year old son clips of Denard on this blog and funny cat pictures.

Now it is all boobies and profanity.

If you are short of mods I will be happy to help.

I've read the rest of the posts in this sticky (i.e., done my research).  I understand that stupid is to be negbanged, such that certain threads (like the Richard Craniums thread a while back) will stand because they have not crossed over the threshold between stupid and removable.  No argument here - it would be impossible to monitor something as ubiquitous as stupidity.

I've also done my part concerning the comment at issue.  And yet?

And yet, a particular comment in the Darius Morris nicknames thread equating the President with Stalin or Lenin currently stands as if perfectly reasonable (or at least, not worse than stupid), because there's only so much one user can do - particularly if the thread has worked its way down the board, and a particular comment goes unnoticed.

Said comment deserves more than my solitary, meager downvote (IMHE) because (1) this is not a board for politics (as has been pointed out countless times); (2) this comment goes beyond the sin of raising the issue of politics (again, IMHE).

My post here may very well go ignored, but I go to the trouble so that, at the very least, others can see the comment at issue, evaluate, and perhaps downvote (it's not much, but it's something).

EDIT: I see that the comment(s) has(ve) been deleted.  To the Mod(s) - cheers.

OT: Wrestling dear

No off topic.

And some guidelines:

Never post "because we're bored."

It's "deer," not "dear," unless you're wrestling your girlfriend/wife/significant other.

If you post the video, I'll dock you all of your points.

OT: Lions' Posbang celebration of awesomeness thread!!!!

Beyond the realm of allowable off topic. Open threads and "big news" for local teams only. A win isn't big news, even for the Lions.

OT: Danny Woodhead sells Woodhead jerseys undercover

Off topic.

Which League has the most to prove in bowls?

Repost. The article was 14th most recent and was still on the front page of the recent posts, mgoboard, and the mgoboard side bar.

OT: Any clue what happened to Demar Dorsey?

Repost of this thread four days ago.

Fridge out at MD, Leach walking through the door.

Rehash of this post two days ago.

OT: Fake or Real?

A topic I probably would had let go (fake vs real christmas trees) had the title not been goading the recent influx of posters with the maturity level of 12 year olds.

Don't click here if you usually get quality information from "CC" posts

Repeating "Only David Brandon knows what is going to happen" also makes Jack's posts dull.

Also, killed some meme-ing.

No Sharp, and Section 1 you should know better.

Standing policy of this blog is that you should never read Sharp for any reason ever. He does not need refuting, since there isn't a soul in Michigan with a functional brain who reads his stuff and nods and says "this man tells it like it is." Unless you are the guy in charge of whether Sharp has a job writing about sports or not, you should ignore his literary (word used loosely) existence. If you are that guy, fire Drew Sharp.

Additional quotes by Rosenberg don't help either, crusader. I don't want the board to become a blog for people who hate the local newspaper. If you started that blog, I would probably read it.
