Terrific article on Zac Ciullo. (he plays for us). Great character kid.
Nice article in the Det News on Ciullo. He has only played one game in his career, but inspires the rest of the guys. A great example of a terrific kid that and the kind that doesn't get mentioned enough.

Shows me how much it still means to be a Michigan football player.. has reminded me what recruits are really missing out on and the character experience that counts for more than 3/4 years of college.
Character leads you for the rest of your life.

...Angelique. We're lucky to have her as the DetNews Michigan beat writer.
Ciullo embodies the best of college athletics. Check out this LSA Magazine feature on Ciullo from earlier this year (pdf).

I agree, Angelique is my favorite sportswriter in the area. Her writing is a lot more balanced and nuanced than a lot of the other stuff out there.

He can't be a Michigan Man, he has only played one game in his career.

A nice story on great kid. I love the leadership and character of the kids on this team.

...and character does count. But so do wins. The recent 0-3 vs MSU and 0-7 vs OSU doesn't quite help bolster the whole great character thing. But I suppose some U of M fans can only fall back on "great university with top education" and "great character" when the team stinks.
Enough is enough. RichRod and his staff better get this team under control next season (ie play fundamentally sound football) or it's back to talking about how great the UM lacrosse team is.

Do you think the 2007 team played fundamentally sound football under their coaches control? Like motherhood and apple pie, this is a phrase that means nothing. Playing fundamentally sound football is a combination of talent, both physical and mental, and coaching.
Perhaps it is time to cite a Bo anecdote with a Bo quote for you,
On Thursday, November 16, 2006, and though he was not feeling well, Schembechler attended the funeral of his close friend and 1971 quarterback, Tom Slade. That night, Bo delivered his traditional Thursday night pep talk before the Ohio State game. According to The Detroit News: "Bo's speech was not about Ohio State, the Big Ten title or a national championship. The whole speech was about Tom Slade and how, if the players worked hard, listened to their coaches and stuck together as teammates, one day they might be as good a Michigan man as Slade. That was the goal at Michigan, not national championships."[9]Schembechler finished by exhorting them to remember "the team, the team, the team!"
If you want to win and don't care about the character and class of the people who wear the uniform and coach at the school and whether they represent the University as my alma mater with class, go support Alabama or MSU....

I was born in a base hospitial and spent most of my youth outside of various ports, bases and posts. When we were at Newport News, the gate guards used to stare straight ahead while a 4 1/2' tall kid snuck in below their line of sight. My father wrote the winning proposals for a couple of our main weapons systems. His brother was a ful colonel. The miitary is part of who I am. I'm service agnostic, though. God bless 'em, each and every one.

The best for this kid at law school and beyond. Makes one proud of the alma mater.

he's the embodiment of a Michigan Man.
I'm proud that he'll be graduating from Michigan with two degrees.

What a great kid.

I read the article in the print version today. I've always wondered about the mindset of a career benchwarmer. I'm really glad to know that RR saw fit to get this hard working young man some playing time at some point in his career. What an impressive student-athlete.
Best of luck to you, Zac Ciullo. And thank you for working your ass off each and every day to make our team better.

has given so much of himself throughout his entire life to Michigan! i can only imagine the fire in belly and the reward that he recieved to help his teammates be better than justin 'no family values' boren! Ciullo will most likely make UM proud long after he take his helmet off for the last time!
