TomVH: Dallas Crawford Update

Submitted by TomVH on

I'm sure everyone has seen the news article with Dallas Crawford saying he might open up his recruitment. If not, here it is. I spoke to Crawford's coach today about the situation, and here's what he had to say.

Dallas may take another visit to another school, but that's it. He asked me what I thought about everything, and I told him I think Michigan is an outstanding institution to play at either way. He's said in the past that he'd go there either way.

There have been some schools, including USC, that have been trying to contact Dallas. He hasn't said if he will take another visit, and if he does which school will get that visit. It sounds like he's just making sure he has something to fall back on just in case though.

Dallas hasn't said anything about Miami and the new staff. He was shocked when he went there and they only had 27,000 fans in the stands, then you go to the Big House and it's 112,000. You should go somewhere where the people like the team. Sometimes when new coaches come in they'll let the new guys recruit their own kids, and they don't acknowledge the old staff's recruits. I just want to make sure he has somewhere to go just in case.

I've been told by others that Dallas would most likely end up at Michigan either way before. Obviously I have to throw in the fact that anything can happen, but I think this is pretty normal. He's making sure he has somewhere to go that he likes just in case he's left out in the cold.

That's all well and good Tom, but if Dallas Crawford doesn't decommit, what will be the new reason to fire DB?

I heard DB was behind Bristol Palin's run on Dancing With The Stars.

Frankly, this is a smart move by Dallas, you can't blame him for looking around a bit.  Hell,  I've bled blue my whole life but you can bet I would at least take a look at usc & miami if they offered me late.  Dallas should be rated much higher, he's certainly no sleeper recruit but in a few years there's gonna be a bunch of coaches kicking themselves.  Now, if he can just CIA-ninja his boy Sammy some snake-oil we'll all sleep a tad better.

It just confuses me how a new coach wouldn't like to have another CB recruit with our limited resources at DB, especially one as good as Crawford.  I don't see how he'd get left out in the cold.  Drama Drama Drama....

I wouldn't blame any kid for using all (or most) of his official visits.  Even if you're kinda restricted in your "tourism", it's still a free trip to a place you might be curious to explore.  If I were a young star high school player, I'd be very interested to see what Hawaii had to offer, maybe a trip to the U and even SDSU before sticking with my home in A2.
