Moderator Action Sticky
Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.
You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.
This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.
NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

In case the guy comes in here to find out why his thread was deleted. The TI-83 is the de facto standard. She can get by without it, but will have no instruction on any machines other than the 83.

I wake up this morning and see the post asking Mgobloggers to not post NSFW got 302 responses - wow. But I cant read any of them which leads to a question. Did you pull the responses only but the leave the OP up for voting purposes? Or, is there some other reason for my inability to see any of the thoughts of the blog to this request?
Thanks - dying of curiosity what happened there but it sure looks like it was quite a night on that thread.
December 12th, 2010 at 10:06 AM ^
His request had merit. And while most of the responses were funny, several were just mocking both the OP and the PaulVB edit.
I left the OP up as a PSA only.
December 12th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
Thank you. I kinda figured that's what must've happened. And you're correct that his request has merit although the manner in which the request was made I'm sure was seen as a red cape to a bull at a bullfight to some of our more.....shall we say....adolescent members.
December 12th, 2010 at 10:55 AM ^
Thank you. While I thought the thread was funny, I couldn't believe how many people were arguing for the right to turn away some of Brian's customers so they wouldn't have to open two tabs.

Rumors, all paywalled info. Sometimes this stuff is let go, but it's bad form to break someone else's story.

This board will not support unfounded rumor-mongering about player grades.

There were a couple other "reaction" threads to the divisions that I forgot to copy their titles from before unpublishing. Probably 2-3.

To MGoShtoink: Done. This guy has been banned thrice, I believe.
To the masses: Ignore responses to him. It's too much of a pain in the ass to delete every single comment, so we just cave them. STOP RESPONDING TO TROLLS IN GENERAL.

now i have to Google. i would think with his involvement in UM stories that would be relevant.
December 15th, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
His involvement in UM sports, allegations, unfounded rumors, etc. have affected this team and fanbase immensely over the last few years. Also, it was a fun time for everyone to revel and enjoy the news. Plus, how is that worse than all the "CC" posts that regurgitate the same information and invite trolls, even if it was an "OT" post?
December 15th, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
can you share the news to me here bc i'm not finding anything on the google?
December 15th, 2010 at 6:34 PM ^
Sharp was fired from his radio program on WDFN. The schedule will now be Baligian and Killer in the afternoon and Shep in the morning. Sharp is still an active member of the Freep though. It's not the hugest news, but it was still enjoyable for the rest of us for all the venom he's spewed over the years.

Wut Be A Michigan Man be?
While I hate when people use Michigan Man™ as if it means something, flaming them isn't valuable either.
December 16th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
There is a thread on the front page that makes light of a rape case regarding a Notre Dame female. Not only is this off topic and not dealing with Michigan, it is extremely offensive since the OP has made light of it as well as some of the comments.
December 16th, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
early Dec I was about to give a donation to MGOBLOG for Christmas, but lately the threads and comments have gone way beyond the pale.
Many threads are filled with insults, profanity, NSF pictures.
This blog is degenerating fast.
I used to show my 8 year old son clips of Denard on this blog and funny cat pictures.
Now it is all boobies and profanity.
If you are short of mods I will be happy to help.

OT: Who wants Tacos?
Not even close to on topic. "Big Ass Taco" jokes makes me really want to just negbomb while at it.
December 18th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
I've read the rest of the posts in this sticky (i.e., done my research). I understand that stupid is to be negbanged, such that certain threads (like the Richard Craniums thread a while back) will stand because they have not crossed over the threshold between stupid and removable. No argument here - it would be impossible to monitor something as ubiquitous as stupidity.
I've also done my part concerning the comment at issue. And yet?
And yet, a particular comment in the Darius Morris nicknames thread equating the President with Stalin or Lenin currently stands as if perfectly reasonable (or at least, not worse than stupid), because there's only so much one user can do - particularly if the thread has worked its way down the board, and a particular comment goes unnoticed.
Said comment deserves more than my solitary, meager downvote (IMHE) because (1) this is not a board for politics (as has been pointed out countless times); (2) this comment goes beyond the sin of raising the issue of politics (again, IMHE).
My post here may very well go ignored, but I go to the trouble so that, at the very least, others can see the comment at issue, evaluate, and perhaps downvote (it's not much, but it's something).
EDIT: I see that the comment(s) has(ve) been deleted. To the Mod(s) - cheers.

OT: Wrestling dear
No off topic.
And some guidelines:
Never post "because we're bored."
It's "deer," not "dear," unless you're wrestling your girlfriend/wife/significant other.
If you post the video, I'll dock you all of your points.

OT: Lions' Posbang celebration of awesomeness thread!!!!
Beyond the realm of allowable off topic. Open threads and "big news" for local teams only. A win isn't big news, even for the Lions.

But the reasoning is sound, so I really can't. (which shows THIS thread is doing it's job).

Don't click here if you usually get quality information from "CC" posts
Repeating "Only David Brandon knows what is going to happen" also makes Jack's posts dull.
Also, killed some meme-ing.
December 21st, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
No Sharp, and Section 1 you should know better.
Standing policy of this blog is that you should never read Sharp for any reason ever. He does not need refuting, since there isn't a soul in Michigan with a functional brain who reads his stuff and nods and says "this man tells it like it is." Unless you are the guy in charge of whether Sharp has a job writing about sports or not, you should ignore his literary (word used loosely) existence. If you are that guy, fire Drew Sharp.
Additional quotes by Rosenberg don't help either, crusader. I don't want the board to become a blog for people who hate the local newspaper. If you started that blog, I would probably read it.
