I have a hard time believing anyone would make such an exchange with us. Just a hunch.
But throw in that stuffed animal, and we might get a deal.
December 14th, 2010 at 4:40 PM ^
we basically did it with Syracuse, but we really got the raw end of that one.

Maybe we still have a shot at Randy S then. The last I heard here was he was likely heading to UT. Anyone with more knowledge have any more info?
December 14th, 2010 at 3:05 PM ^
nope. but i predict that someone with less knowledge will give it a try.

Brady Hoke. Guaranteed.

I heard the same thing. Things are constantly changing though. Apparently Muschamp offered the Florida DC job to Alabama's DC Kirby Smart. From what I'm seeing from Twitter (newspaper guys, etc), it sounds like he will be staying in Tuscaloosa. Now the people around Florida (newspaper guys, etc.) are suggesting that Muschamp go after Shannon. That's more of speculation though. Nothing official. I'd imagine he'd be interested in that, right?
This is a carousel like I've never seen before. But I guess that's what happens when a big time HC retires leaving a prime job open.

I assume he would be able to demand one of the higher DC salaries in that 600-700 range.

Do we know for a fact that Shannon is even interested in being an assistant coach?

Valdez Showers come on down!!!!!!

He's sticking with Florida, and we weren't second on his list anyway.

perhaps DB is waiting until after the bowl game to tell RR to seek employment elsewhere and the new coach can hire whoever he pleases as Defensive Coordinator.
December 14th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
with pay raises for everyone!
December 14th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
I just hope we have a chair left for us.
December 14th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
If the defensive staff stays in tact, where would they have to rank nationally for you to think it was an acceptable move to keep Gerg?
December 14th, 2010 at 5:06 PM ^
Top 50. That would be a pretty big jump and likely get us to 10 wins so everyone would be pretty happy.
December 14th, 2010 at 5:31 PM ^
Top 50 also. We need to force more turnovers though. Top 50 in yardage would help but I want to see more forced fumbles and interceptions.
December 14th, 2010 at 7:33 PM ^
This is yet another reason it concerns me that DB is waiting.
I mean, even if he keeps RR, Gerg has to be gone, right?
Yet, all the action is happening now. By setting such a rigid timetable, we're dooming ourselves to pick from the leftovers. After our bowl on Jan. 1, everyone will already be settled in new positions and it'll be a lot harder to get the person we want. There will be less choices. Teryl Austin is now not an option. By then, Shannon might have gone somewhere else too, in the mean time, Dave Brandon is sitting there twiddling his thumbs instead of making moves, because he's sticking to his timetable.
And, not like this is a desireable destination right now for a DC candidate, so, we need to be helping ourselves any way we can, and DB is just handicapping us in a DC search.
Seriously, watch us end up with Gerg again next year. I wouldn't be surprised one bit, because, by the time DB makes his evaluations there may be no other options left.

Right. There will be zero other options in January. Literally every single defensive coordinator will have already changed teams and have been given a pay raise by January 2.
