Official Big Ten Logo/Divisions Reaction Thread.
(Ed-I fail at internets. The links go to the images supplied by the Michigan Football twitter account.)
My thoughts: Meh.
I liked the hidden 11 in the old logo, and hoped there would be one in this, but it's not terrible.
The second logo, a horizontal shortening, is awful and needs to be destroyed.
Your thoughts?

Ugh..
December 13th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
It pissed me off how the Blue Barracudas always got eliminated in the first stage.
December 13th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
Yet the Orange Iguanas were dominant! Go Orange Iguanas!
December 13th, 2010 at 6:14 PM ^
Sparty looks so sad, in the shadow of others.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
That could get confusing when you are talking about the leader of the legends divison and the leader of the leaders division meeting up in the conference championship to see who is the leader of the big ten which is really the big twelve.
December 13th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
Don't fret. We will only have this logo for 6 weeks before Big Jim puts the pimp hand down and pulls 4 more teams into the Big 10.
I must admit that it currently looks like a failed abortion.

the Big Ten went to work on their long-awaited redesign of thoroughbred horses.
You just know what happened. The Big Ten Redesign Committee started with this:
And ended up with this:
With apologies to Sir Alec Issigonis...

and $180,000
December 13th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^
It's simple, but looks too simple, something that probably could be created by anyone.
However, I understand the desire to make it easier to use with all forms of media, which it probably does better than any of the other, more intricate logos of the other conferences.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^
Ugggly. I see a Big 16?
December 13th, 2010 at 12:29 PM ^
It's bland. It's unimaginative. It looks cheap.
December 13th, 2010 at 1:01 PM ^
Maybe they're planning ahead.
December 13th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
Agreed it looks cheap and like someone made it with those stencils we all had in elementary school.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^

Divisions: We are in "Legends" the other division is "Leaders"
December 13th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
We are not the "Legends and Best." That is just awful.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
Legends and leaders? Sounds close to feys and metros to me. Why get cute?
December 13th, 2010 at 12:18 PM ^
get off my lawn.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:23 PM ^
Neither of those terms specifically apply to gays. Google it.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:27 PM ^
what fey is a derivation of. i'll hang up now and listen to your answer
December 13th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
Better than learning from Fox News, I guess. Can we please stop the fan on fan hate in here? After I ask if you pee sitting down, that is...
December 13th, 2010 at 12:44 PM ^
you linked to an Onion article that actually supports my point while degrading the use of such a term really confuses me.
also i sit while peeing if i'm drunk or don't want to risk being yelled at for missing unknowingly. heavy is the hand that wears the ring.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
I hate arguing semantics on a blog. That being said, while the terms are closely related, the article points out, at its core, that they are not the same. This is such a stupid argument, yet I am powerless to stop typing and cede the last word...
December 13th, 2010 at 1:24 PM ^
IT'S THE ONION
IT'S SATIRE
IT'S SAYING THEY ACTUALLY ARE THE SAME THINGS
'm now mssng th lttr aftr d and th lttr aftr h from bangng my had on my kyboard
December 13th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
I am willing to lose every point I have accrued on this website to make you realize your argument is wrong. Is the connotation there? Yes. Is it the same thing? NO. You've resorted to caps to validate your argument, let me supply you with the clinical definition.
fey [feɪ]
December 13th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
This can be done now.
December 13th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
(also you're wrong. and what clinic does one go to in order to find a definition?)
December 13th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
Bleaux, you and what you did there contribute to why some people can only stand so much of this board.
Way to take away the focus of the thread and get the last word in. You must be quite proud.
The names and the new icon are light years beyond putrid. They smack of over-thinking and half-assedness all at once.
December 13th, 2010 at 3:44 PM ^
There's a joke about an itchy red rash somewhere in your response...
December 13th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
I think it's a disappointment. I agree that a "hidden" 12 in there would've been cool. But now they put what looks like a 10 in Big? That doesn't make any sense.
Also, who is prepared to live in a world where the Big 10 has 12 teams and the Big 12 has 10 teams?
December 13th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
I spent like two minutes looking for the hidden "2" to form a "12."
December 13th, 2010 at 12:18 PM ^
I know, right?
December 13th, 2010 at 1:00 PM ^
I unfocused my eyes and starred at it for minutes waiting for the 2 to appear like those pictures they have at the mall, but no such luck.
December 13th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
i love how this post got exactly 12 points.
December 13th, 2010 at 3:42 PM ^
Someone had to be that guy.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
It's almost illegible... And for the short-hand version, what's wrong with a simple B10? I mean, other than that it's a vitamin?
In any case, it could be worse, but they're trying to do too much.
December 13th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Also, now that I think of it, why in the name of all that is decent in the world would we bother to write out "ten" and "10"????
It makes some sense to write out "ten" and some other numeric symbols like, oh I don't know, 12(!)... but "ten" and "10" is just STUPIDLY REDUNDANT. Why sneak in a number just for the sake of sneaking in a number? If it doesn't make sense, don't do it. Yes, we liked the "11" hidden in the old logo, but shit, we're adults, we'll get over it.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
Legends and Leaders
wtf
Kill that with fire too
December 13th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
Embarrassing. Is the Big Ten run by a group of 11-year-olds?
December 13th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
the Big Ten is now being run by 50 yr old guys who've left their significant others and are trying to get back into the dating scene using hip lingo and stylish sun glasses
December 13th, 2010 at 12:29 PM ^
Good call...
The 11 yr olds just designed the logo.
December 13th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
12 year olds now
