eh I think it'll get a little too Purduey, but it was cool just this once.

It was a good idea for this one game. If we make this a yearly thing or whatever I'd like for us to invest in a big ass hockey horn as opposed to stealing one from Amtrak.
Only thing that really annoyed me was the walking curly fries. They reminded me why I'm happy we don't have a mascot. I realize we have to make money, but wow did we whore out on the advertising this game.

False. Not only were the Curly Fries awesome, but they were a better goalie than Palmisano.

+1 this for eternity. Considering putting this in my signature. Fuck it, I will. You get credit obvs.

How can someone's opinion be "false"?
December 12th, 2010 at 7:39 AM ^
Purduey - great way to describe it.
Now if they can just ban vuvuzelas....
December 12th, 2010 at 1:40 AM ^
we definitely can't have that!!
actually hearing the Purdue horn gets on my nerves.
December 12th, 2010 at 1:59 AM ^
I thought it was odd considering we don't even have a goal horn at Yost.
December 12th, 2010 at 8:28 AM ^
But you are outdoors in the vastness of the Big House where many (most?) of these people have never been inside Yost. The train horn was a while to excite people and alert people.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
I didn't say it was a bad thing. It was just odd to me. Perhaps we should add one to Yost in the future.
December 12th, 2010 at 1:59 AM ^
Way too Purdue. Give me The Victors at Yost within 5 seconds of the goal any given Friday/Saturday.

I didn't mind the horn in the Big House but I don't want to see a horn after goals in Yost. There is no need for one - I think the roar of the crowd and the Victors beginning right after a goal is enough.
No need to change how games operate at Yost

we don't get an oversized drum playing at the games it won't be too purduey. Does anybody know where I can buy the big chill jersey? I searched everywhere and couldn't find it.
December 12th, 2010 at 2:15 AM ^
Arby's.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:33 AM ^
I'd rather have a cannon. Why?
It's a cannon, why the fuck else?

I'd rather have the B-2 bomber just keep circling and drop a cluster bomb which explodes high enough not to kill people whenever we score.
December 12th, 2010 at 7:17 AM ^
that same train horn in my bedroom.
December 12th, 2010 at 7:30 AM ^
I could tolerate the horn for hockey only. What I really disliked was all the advertisements on the marquee.
December 12th, 2010 at 11:33 AM ^
As someone who would like the Big House to keep some of its old school elements, I am afraid that yesterday's advertising may be only the beginning of a gross commercialization. When DB talks about "maximizing resources," I start to wonder how long it is before the stadium is renamed in favor of a sponsor with deep pockets.
I hope it doesn't happen, but I don't hold any more illusions, either.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
Brandon has said before (after the spring game) that advertising will happen for non-football games like The Big Chill or the spring game. I doubt we will see an Arby's takeover like yesterday for a football game, because I imagine the backlash would be quite large.
December 12th, 2010 at 9:07 AM ^
as a purdue grad, I love it. Yesterday was a perfect day.
December 12th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
What I liked better than the horn was:
"HOW. MUCH. TIME. IS. LEFT?"
-"One minute to play in the 3rd period!"
-"THANK YOU"
-"And thank you!"
December 12th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
but not the one used yesterday. A deeper horn, maybe one like the ones used in Philadelphia or Detroit would be better.
December 12th, 2010 at 11:40 AM ^
A buddy of mine calls hockey games for Adrian College, who played on the rink @Michigan Stadium on Dec. 4th. He blogged this:
Funny moment with 10 seconds left in first period: U of M sports marketing group says "Do we have a horn to end the period? No. OK, have the p.a. announcer make a horn sound." Yep, I did it. Classic.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
they would have used a "Bob Uffer horn" .... honk, honk, honk !!! Would have been just another reference to the past. Michigan is nothing if not for the History !
Go Blue !
December 12th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
Train horn had me and my buddies looking around for the giant snare drum....fine for one hockey game, but it's Purdue's thing.
December 12th, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
Sound it every time the opposing team punts.
December 12th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
I'm pretty sure Rick Comley did not enjoy the horn.
