Please avoid NSFW or home pics in posts

Submitted by StephenRKass on

A simple request, to allow my continued readership at mgoblog. Please don't post large NSFW pics at any time. My wife was not happy this morning as she walked in behind me with a pic posted in the "pimp hand" post. I am on a short leash, so to speak. I also have 9 year old twins, boy and a girl, and they don't need to see this stuff. It's inappropriate, and not funny. And my office would be just as bad or worse (to see this kind of post.) I'm not complaining on my own behalf, but because of my family. I'm not suggesting censorship, but much more of this and I'll just be dropping out of visiting mgoblog in the future. I suppose, if some of you want me to leave the blog for good, you can keep at it. Whatever. But those of you in high school and college and your 20's and 30's who are single guys with your tongues hanging out, remember that some of us have families.

I think the mods used to get after this stuff, but there are now too many posts.

Kthxbye.

[PaulVB] I thought it was fairly common knowledge that mgoblog is better than a bunch of guys posting cheesecake pictures and talking about how women should be in the kitchen because all they're good for is making sandwiches. If you're thinking "Maybe I should say this is NSFW," maybe it's not something you should be posting on a Michigan sports blog [/PaulVB]

sounds like someone hasn't figured out how to use his own Pimp Hand.

it's all about a fluid transfer of energy from the core to the arm. Practice on your kids if you're too scurred to confront the she-beast yet.

people can go anywhere on the internet to find porn. soft-core porn. bikinis. anything.

but this guy gets ridiculed for expecting this site to be one place where people focus on Michigan and save that crap for 99.9999999% of the internet. this site used to be something that could be linked to freely to inform people on the facts. now it's not.

i would love to know why it's so important people be able to post bouncing breasts versus maintaining a site that we could be proud of and be accessible from the age of 8 to 88. profanity is one thing, sexist bs for the sake of posting it is another.

if brian's completely switched gears and is allowing this, i'd be stunned. it's lowbrow crap and deserves to be on 4chan, not a fricking sports blog. grow up people.

He's getting ridiculed for being sanctimonious about something that was definitely flippant and not that offensive in nature. There are PLENTY of other examples that might have been valid, but using the one of a little kid slapping a [not-very-fit] chick in the thong-ass isn't that bad.

why does it matter what his example was? that happened to be the one. would his argument suddenly have worthwhile validity if he noted the 20 worse pictures being regularly posted? see the forest for the trees instead of focusing on the pic in question

While parts of this have been mildly entertaining (highlighted by the Lloyd Brady SFW pic and StephenRKass being crazy whipped), I hope that we can all avoid posting this stuff outside of this thread. I don't care about the pimp hand picture, but seriously: we all know how to find porn on the Internet, I'm certain we don't need it here.

 1. This thread was started late on a Saturday night
 2. The truly NSFW stuff was deleted
 3. This thread was started late on a Saturday night.

If it gets deleted, I am not going to make an em0 whine post bitching about censorship, but we had a good time for a few hours, and one of the most visable members of the female MGoMafia was a frequent contributor. If the mods want to change the title to denote it NSFW, go ahead, but it was awesome. For every 1,000 coaching change threads, there was this one, forget the bullshit and have a good time thread. Sorry, howz about Ron English replace RR? He led EMU to 2 wins this year!!!1!!

while linking to naked pics is a bit much, my problem isn't with the comments in this thread. it's that the OP has, generally, a valid point. i swear regularly but if this site went to a format requiring all ages language, i wouldn't get pissed off. people on here continuously post sophomoric pictures of boobs more each week - it's unnecessary, it's immature and it has ZERO to do with Michigan.

This thread would not be appropriate most of the time. But you(not you personally) are naive to think that a site populated by thousands of males a day will not be a breeding ground for these types of things. I know you took tons of shit while you were a mod, but this has been combed through by Paul. It happened, and if the pictures/gifs/youtube embeds had shown up on a thread meant to discuss the pros and cons of running a nickel defense on 2nd and 8, I would agree with you. Again, this site is not a democracy, and if it gets sent to that "mod action sticky" in the sky, so be it. It goes back to the cliche, you(again, not you personally) decided to click on it. But 6000 views and 300+ comments can't be wrong.

My wife suggested the "honkers" picture, FYI

but they also get banned/caved/deleted....regularly.

Again, not trying to argue with you, but as much of a chance as it was for people to post semi-NSFW stuff, it was an equal chance for people to come and attempt to squash the fun.

EDIT-The point I was (poorly) trying to make, was we had fun. Everyone knew we were treading on thin ice, and were willing to take the consequences, we don't need a former mod to tell us we were wrong. Get it deleted, or just move on to Cam Newton threads.

boobs don't have a common Michigan element to them - there's not something that makes it 'better to enjoy with people who root for the same team.'

the board has shifted way beyond OT as of late and while the OP's example sucks, i've noticed that the site is no longer one i feel comfortable opening 'anywhere.' that shouldn't be the case when the topic is MICHIGAN SPORTS and not, i dunno, an OT/post anything site.

A few posters tonight went overboard, though Paul took care of the offending stuff and I would assume a negbomb will be left on a few doorsteps in the near future.

At the same time, the OT-ish nature of some posts is possibly the only thing holding the board together right now. It is the buffer that is keeping the CC conversations from completely devolving the board into an MLive-esque circular firing squad. You're dealing with a fractured, angry, tired, and punchy fanbase right now. Threads like this one, the posbang thread a few months back, and the "Finals Suck... balls" thread might be unneccesary, but they also keeps shit from hitting the fan.

We can only discuss HOLY SHIT DAVE BRANDON ATE A BLUEBERRY MUFFIN WHAT DOES THAT MEAN so often before people hit their breaking point.

(Though I must say, the nudity has got to be a no-no)

As far as Brandon eating the blueberry muffin, holy shit, why didn't you say that sooner.

 • blueberries are a fruit
 • most fruits are best eaten fresh
 • the fresh prince of bel-air was fresh
 • he was also from Philadelphia
 • Temple is in Philadelphia
 • Al Golden coaches at Temple

Brandon is going to hire Al Golden to conclude our non-existent coaching search.

I completely agree with you. As much as I enjoy Katy Perry and her Elmo t-shirt, I also like being able to cruise MGoBlog in class... er, I mean, BETWEEN classes... without having to worry that something inappropriate is gonna pop up.

...with the notable exception of this thread, After all, if there was a ever a thread that screamed "caveat blogitor," it was this one.

We're looking for, on a blog where the front page posts often contain a "fuckity fuck fuck" equivalent, but cleavage is all OMG. The former couldn't be on tv or in PG-13 movies, but the latter is well, everywhere. And I won't even get into Brian's regular "heads asplode" gif. If there's a world where swearing and violence are ok, but boobs aren't, I don't want to live in it.

(And actually, the more violence, swearing, and boobs in the world, the better).

It is far less likely that bad language will be noticed by someone passing by your computer than a picture or gif displaying cleavage. And that can be an issue at work, in class, etc. This is not a statement about our society accepting swearing and violence and stigmatizing sexual imagery. This is a statement about what grabs people's attention when they look up and see someone's computer screen.

I actually agree with what you're saying, because mgoblog is a pretty classy place on the whole. I wouldnt want the place to end up looking like 4chan or whatever, but man, you just failed the Internet.

The best way to ensure that porn and smut find their way onto a board is to ask that it not be. It's Trolling 101. They will do whatever you asked them not do do simply BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT WILL ANNOY YOU. Invoking "families" only gives them more ammo.

Hell, I try not to get into trolling, and even I want to go find some smutty pic and spam it, now. You, sir, have kicked the hornets nest.

But yessir we got this thread to over 300 posts! Now where did I put that beer.

EDIT: Today's big win at the Big Chill was just the elixir this fanbase needed. And a thread like this one further proves that sometimes you need to blow off a bit of steam--not to mention poke fun when someone posts something designed to ignite the powder keg. Honestly the incessant CC posts have taken a bit of a toll and I for one really enjoyed the break at least for one day and one thread. That is all.

Boy am I glad I went against my better judgment and clicked on this thread. The title made me go "Awww shit" but the number of posts made curious. Sometimes curiosity kills the cat, but in this case, I's one happy cat. +1 to everybody that contributed to this thread, and I mean that. What a way to cap off a pretty big day.

kudos to the mgocommunity for this thread. I was going to study and do well on exams... and then i remembered the wonder of the internet and the beautiful distraction it provides.

+1 all around

Right now, my 9 year old twins and I are checking out all the boobs on this thread. They have to learn somewhere.
