If Harbaugh wants to come

Submitted by SFBayAreaBlue on

It obvious that RR only cares about offense, the special teams and defense are just putrid.  I said if he got 6 wins he'd earn another year.  But if harbaugh wants to come now, we should give him the job.  I'm writing this with 2 minutes to go in the half down by 17.  Hopefully there will be karmic justice that makes me eat these words and we pull out an amazing comeback.  But we suck.

We can't kick, we can't cover kicks, we have poorly coached, undisciplined freelancers on defense, our best receiver can't catch a cold ball, and our best runner is a twig who keeps getting hurt and dropping the ball.

Switching head coaches now will be another painful transition.  But I'm almost an old man now and i'm looking more at the longterm.  RR is not a long term answer.  I wouldn't mind giving him the OC job.  But I doubt he'd take the demotion  Anyway, if we switch wake me up in 4 years when he have a chance of being a good team again.

the real issue is that harbaugh won't be an option for us after this season.  he's going to get a major contract from someone else if not us.

so...if we decide to can rr after next season (or even later), and harbaugh is no longer interested, who becomes our best option?

ferentz/miles/schiano all turned us down already.  brady hoke?  ron english?  mike trgovac?  mike debord?  etc.?  it's not pretty.

I could never be more on the Harbaugh (or ANYONE ELSE, really) bus than I am now.  This team isn't improving, it's regressing horribly and failing to compete with any decent team.  Offense alone doesn't make a team( not that we have one anyway, they can't hold on to the ball and/or score any points).  A good team is a COMPLETE team, and we don't have any kind of complete team out there right now. Anyone who still supports this clown is in the deepest kind of denial there can be. I don't know about you, but I'm getting sick of having a "sometimes when you're on" video made after every season. Speaking of which, who's making this year's version?

Where'd you go aaamichfan? Come back and explain to me how Rich Rod deserves more time, because I keep forgetting the reasons for retention, somehow...anymore stats you can throw at me to prove what a juggernaut he's building here?

I never gave any indication of how I felt either way. I'm just getting sick of your prewritten rants that you post here during every game.

Pre-written? As honored as I am that you think so highly of my writing, it comes straight from the heart in real-time.  I guess my life-long Michigan education has bestowed such a gift upon me.

Come on, you're reaching now, brother.  Reality is happening in Columbus right now, much as it has against any good team the last three years.  If we act now, we can save the program by snagging a good new coach, and maybe even ease a transition in one case.  That's reality.  If I was wrong, people would just ignore me and move on. The negbangs are more telling feedback than any "ur a troll, suck harbaughs dick!" comments could ever be.

yanno, I've been saying the same thing for 3 years, but maybe we can't anymore.  Sure, the plays are there and the players are missing open receivers, dropping passes, fumbling, etc., but they've been doing it for 3 years.  1 game, maybe 1 season, you can say bad plays buy the guys on the field.  But at some point, is the coaching staff not responsible for teaching better ball security, better concentration on catches, etc?  I think the staff has to be held some what accountable for the epidemic that has been our turnover problem.

Maybe Im  complete jackass, but one guy makes a legitimate call for RR's job and get blown up and a different guy defends our defense and gains several "points" and THEN another guy says that over 3 years that it has to be coaching, again, legitimately should be held responsible for our terribleness and gets praised...none of this makes sense to me. I do have a side to jump on, but people on the board dont seem to care about that, just who posts what...oye veh

Oh, so the blame lies on the one facet of our team that people argue RR is good at? Because if our supposedly elite offense can't score (against any Big 10 teams not named Indiana when the outcome is actually in question), our defense is years away from being good, and our special teams is a shambles... hmm, I think you've made the exact argument why RR needs replaced.

So let me guess you want harbaugh to be the coach, who up to this point has accomplished far less than RR and hasn't even won a meaningful bowl if any to come in here and turn this young team into title contentders?

And no don't respond saying u don't want someone to come in and make them title contenders right away.. cause that is the situation we are in.  If you thought in 3 years with what we had in 08 that this team would be title contenders im glad im not living in your world

Wow.. i want what your smoking..

Most of the site thought we'd be contending in 3 years back in 2008. To say otherwise is revisionist history. So we all must have been smoking it.

Ok to be fair, i in no way thought we would be contending for a title.  I thought it would take at LEAST 4 years to get back up there.

Fuck, we haven't even had an upper classmen as a QB in RR's 3 years and he has no choice either.

We met pretty much every pre season prediction that i read, and he should be given a 4th year, although i would think the D staff would get cleaned out.

I'm saying right now that I will take more rebuilding than having to deal with this garbage anymore.  We tried it,it didn't work, not very many people even wanted him here in the first place...let's all just move on.

What exactly has RR accomplished in his career?  The guy is getting a lot of mileage out of a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia.  His biggest Big East wins were over Rutgers and Louisville.

Seriously, name three or four big games that he has won as head coach.
