Is Roundtree in line for 1st Team All Big Ten?
I was just browsing through the Big Ten stats website for this season and I noticed that Roy Roundtree in in the top 3 for the league in both receptions (58) and receiving yards (839). With another game to go to get those stats even higher I just wanted to throw that observation out there and ask if people thought he might get some year-end recognition. Obviously, I would take a win over Ohio State if it meant no one on our team got any kind of awards mention, but still, I think it would be nice for Tree to get some love.

Those are not turnovers anymore than Stanzi's throw right to Jordan Kovacs was an interception! LOL at "Denard doesn't even come close to Stanzi", this is the point where I ask for evidence because I can't find any and you don't supply any.
I like how your first argument was "Denard throw one million interceptions a game and only rushes for 1 more TD" and when I showed that to be false and ridiculous transformed into "Stanzi is sooooo much better in conference", which, until I see some numbers, that's like just your opinion, man.
Michigan has by far the best offense by yardage and the third best scoring offense in the Big Ten. I think it's pretty reasonable that the player most responsible for that should be a first team Big Ten player.

You're right. It is my opinion. This whole thread is one big opinion. There is no clear #1 QB in the conference, which is why we are having this conversation. I just respectfully disagree with your assessment.
I think your last paragraph pretty much sums up my point. I think that the player most responsible for not having the #1 scoring offense in the Big Ten when you are by far the best offense by yardage cannot possibly be a first team Big Ten player.
If you want numbers, Denard robinson averages 8.2 yards by touching the ball and he scores a TD 6.5% of the time he touches the ball. Stanzi averages 7.7 yards when touching the ball and he scores a TD 6.7% of the time he touches the ball. TD:TO ratio? 30:12 and 25:4. How many games has Stanzi thrown multiple interceptions? None. How many has Denard? Three.
The difference between the two? Denard has touched the ball about 100 more times than Stanzi has on the season and Stanzi's doesn't have a consistent drop in production against teams with 7 wins or greater right now.

To my recollection Denard has thrown 10 INTs and lost 2 fumbles this year. That amounts to 13 turnovers, or 1.18 per game. By contrast he has thrown 14 TDs and run for another 16. That 30 total TDs to 13 turonovers, about a 2.25:1 ratio. Not an earth-shattering number, but hardly handicapping.
Also, your inverse cherry-picking (ignoring total offense in favor of other stats) is the exact same offense you accuse us of. So not only are you innaccurate, but you are either hyopcritical or illogical. Kudos.

Not that I necessarily think he should be fist team QB, 30 TD's is a lot, in 11 games also. You can't just throw out the rushing numbers, they did happen while he played QB. Also, the #16 rated passer by efficiency is pretty damn good.

Who is the best QB in the conference then? What is a better measure for a QB? Don't you think Denard makes up with his slightly worse passing efficiency when compared to guys like Tolzien and Stanzi by being the nations leading rusher???

Of whatever fucked up, subjective measure you come up with to evaluate QBs or any player - Denard is absolutely in the discussion as the best QB in the Big Ten. And he's done that that basically as a RS Freshman. Michigan's struggles are not his - he's been streaky, but his margin for error is so much smaller when he has Michigan's D and not Iowa, OSU or Wisky's backing him up and fans think he should be downgraded for that.
His passing numbers are up to snuff, and he's making history as a rusher. He deserves it.

I think a big factor in this debate is the weight that should be given to non conference vs conference games. Obviously Denard had way more success in non conference play. I think he's still in the conversation, though.

Denard is just a sophmore, that is the amazing aspect. Give him a year or two of experience and he will be winning his share of awards, maybe even some big ones in NYC. He has work to do, but he will get there and get the praise he deserves.

In terms of allowing Smith to get wide open looks: better in the BT. While teams have been trying to lock him down recently, he's been able to get wide open passes to 'Tree (1st play Illinois) and draw defenders from V. Smith (look at Smith's yardage recently).
Biggest threat, best QB athlete, and most yards (by FAR). Still, because he's not the best traditional QB he doesn't get the award. Yet, I find that the award doesn't always go to the best player, just as the heisman doesn't.

But he has some moments where he flat out drops a ball that hits him right in the numbers. I think next year he will be 1st team for sure. Great kid. He is only going to get better. I also hope he gets the #1 jersey at some point while at Michigan.
