But I'm thrilled we got his teammate. And WR is one of our deepest areas.

I would be thrilled to get a tight end, an offensive lineman, a couple defensive linemen, a couple linebackers, a safety or two, and for the rest, the best available at any position. Losing on Watkins is less critical.

Add Zettel, Frost, Hobbi, Jernigan, Walls, Lyons, Grant and several others, maybe Hayes, Petro? and we'd have an awesome class. While heavy on defense, that's what we need now.

Yea I mean we are pretty deep at the WR position so maybe that was one of the determining factors why he chose Clemson, lets use the scholarship we were going to give to him to help out the defense.  It was a good try but lets just move on, there will be other recruits.

EDIT: Also it appears as though Ray Drew has trimmed his list down 9 and we at least made the cut. So that could be considered a win for today :)

Wow, why's everyone so upset/surprised? We don't need a wide receiver and every reputable recruiting service has been saying for weeks that they'd be extremely surprised if he went anywhere other than Clemson.

Were upset because he was a highly rated recruit and he was seriously considering us, and were surprised because TomVH said that we might be his leader.

It sucks to lose a player of his caliber, but best of luck to him at Clemson.  He'll be one heck of a player there.

...We do need a wide receiver.  Pretty bad.  I already explained this up above, but apparently I have to do it again here.  Next year is Stonum's, Odoms' and Hemingway's last year.  I'd like to know who our deep threat is going to be in 2012.  Sure, we have plenty of slots and possibly Roundtree could move to the outside, but his best spot is in the slot.  Ricardo and Robinson will be okay, but I don't think they're going to turn into anything truly special on the outside and quite frankly, neither has the speed to be a legit deep threat.  We needed a receiver like this to take over in a year.

Not an issue if four of the seven are true:

1)  Stokes can produce in his Jr and Sr years; 2)  redshirt freshman Ricardo Miller and J. Robinson are the real deal; 3)  Jeremy Jackson progresses; 4)  Williamson can contribute; 5)  Conway is legit; 6) Roundtree continues to be Roundtree the next two years; 7)  2 high level WR recruits in 2012.

Bit of a surprise.  Weather was always an issue, although I didn't think it would be that big.  I don't get it.  Clemson has 4 WR's committed already and Sammy makes 5.  2 of them are top 5 WR's.  I don't watch Clemson, are they a pass heavy offense?

Edit : Good luck in life Sammy.  I am so wrapped up that we lost this kid, I forgot what is important in life.  I know we have plenty of WR's, but this guy was top notch and would have brought us some great press.

be a stud WR to make plays and get yards. You have to be able to catch and be fast. There are plenty of guys out there like that. Would I have liked to have Watkins, hell yes, but this isn't a make or break recruit like some guys on Defense are.

Is it just me or does Clemson seem to have gotten some stud recruits in recent years but continue to have average seasons in an ACC that hasn't been that strong lately.  You'd think that this would raise a flag for some of these recruits considering them but I guess not.

Yes, Clemson is the undisputed king of underachieving teams.  They pull in fantastic talent, but they can never put it all together on all 3 phases of the game.  They have their studs here and there, but the team never comes together to be consistent.  Clemson's offense has been a mess this year, so a bit surprised at their excellent offensive recruiting class.  Oh well, guess we hunker down and focus on our D.

Do we even know if he would have been admitted?  I remember he had to work on his ACT scores.

It is great to be on these highly rated kids, but I don't want another Demar Dorsey situation.  Hopefully the staff and the administration are working together better.

a great get, but with all the WR's we already have... we have to develope them:  Drew Dileo, Jeremy Jackson, Ricardo Miller (RS), Jerald Robinson (RS), Baquer Sayed (RS), D.J. Williamson (RS)  and 2011 commit Shawn Conway.

Those are a lot of young talent... but I would be more concern about getting help on the defensive side of the ball.

I listed aren't intimadating, but they are on the roster.  Coulda, woulda, shoulda isn't going to get the job done.

So, I would rather work with the players I have... than wishing about players I want to come to Michigan (but if he changes his mind... than welcome aboard).
