All time start leader at OL

Submitted by Marvin on

I've been trying to see where Stephan Schilling ranks among Michigan's o-lineman in all time starts. I saw that he's tied for fourth all time with the late great center John Vitale, but I can't find any database, including the one on Mgoblue, that will list start leaders for any position.

Does anyone know where I might find these stats?

Also, I hereby raise a glass to Stephan Schilling for a great, albeit sometimes trying, Michigan career. I hope he plays on Sundays.

Jansen was never skinny. I went and saw him play BBall for Clawson when he was a soph in HS. He was a big big soph and already highly rated. John Jansen's older brother was a senior on that Clawson team IIRC. When the team came out for pre-game warm-ups, I thought the older Jansen was the soph and John the senior, because John was so much more physically developed than his older brother.

I think he does play on Sundays. Yes, he has had some rough games, but he is on some NFL scouts' lists I'm sure. He was picked as one of the best offensive guards in the Big Ten in the preseason.

He's been great this season.  Giving Denard and Tate a lot of time to throw or do whatever.  All linemen are going to have some bad plays or games, but he'll definitely go pro.  I hope he goes in the early rounds.

You are a right about the long run. After over a century of Michigan football, there has been something around 70 players who actually suited up and played in a professional (NFL) game. The average career of those players was 3.9 years. These statistics were from a talk Dave Brandon gave to our alumni group before the MSU game. So most of the players even those who leave early, probably (if they redshirted one year) spent more time here than they ever would in the pros.

Sure, some of the great players were going to go on but for most of the team, getting an education, learning something about the world and themselves is really the important parts of their time here.

Can someone ask Schilling if he would like the spot of a certain Stephen Peterman of the Detroit Lions.
