Cool headline!
This isn't some sort of competition for getting the most page views on your post. Stick with informative titles.
EDIT: Thanks for the fix. No hard feelings.

its a unique game, and frankly GameDay needs some unique places to go.
Not their fault Illinois has done a faceplant and NW just lost the only reason to watch them.

Such a tease.
EDIT: Great, thanks for changing the title, now my post doesn't make any sense.

They'd probably be in Iowa City for the OSU game if Iowa hadn't lost yesterday. Looks like another slow week for the big programs.
November 14th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
I'll admit, I did not see that one coming. At least the crowd for it should be good. The question is, where do they set up the stage? Are they going to the roof-tops and have no crowd right behind them (for safety?), or do they go on the field since all of left field should be open?
I can't think of any place big enough right outside Wrigley to host them.
November 14th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
They could go to the blue lot the runs down to Grace St. or the the parking lot where the "triangle building" is eventually going to go.
November 14th, 2010 at 12:10 PM ^
The McDonalds parking lot across from Wrigley seems like a good spot.
Maybe I should make the 10 minute walk, but even I don't care enough about this game.
November 14th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
McD's isn't a sponsor. No way they get the free advertising. Besides, that place will be charging $40 for parking.
If they are outside, they will be in the blue lot or the triangle. Only places big enough. My bet is they go to the blue lot. Gotta guess the triangle will be full of the semis for all the gear.

Watched the UM-Purdue game at Rock-It, directly across the street from Wrigley. Will probably do the same next week. Assume Gameday will set up right there, in the parking lot next to Wrigley.

Funny you say bitter Mets fan. That '86 series is what I'm bitter about. When have the Astros ever beat the Mets when it matters? I could understand a Mets fan hating Astros for hating them, but bitterness?

Does anyone know where they're going to set up shop? Inside Wrigley?

Despite what will be a decided lack of nationwide interest in the game, it's hard to fault College Gameday for choosing to be at a unique venue in a major city next week. The only controversies should involve selections of the set's location and the choice of the "guest picker" (and please don't consider this as an invitation for any more Greg Robinson jokes).
As for the "guest picker", predicting who gets that spot might be like guessing who's going to light the Olympic flame. Consideration has to go to obvious choices like Dick Butkus and Mike Ditka. Hiring someone to channel the sweet spirit of Walter Payton won't work. Ernie Banks and Michael Jordan don't have the college football gravitas. Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel would've been logical choices two years ago, but not this year. Matthew Broderick might need another day off, so he'd be an unlikely choice (though Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago, might be available). Bill Murray, Jim Belushi and Ozzie Guillen might offer a comedic slant. Could it be time for Will Ferrell to resurrect Harry Caray?
November 14th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
But I doubt they'd do it, if for no other reason than Will Ferrell already was the guest picker when GameDay was at the Coliseum for Oregon/USC.
November 15th, 2010 at 10:44 AM ^
This is, by far, the worst year ever for Gameday locations.
