I know many mgobloggers are down on the Freep, but this has to be the worst article written on Michigan football ever.

Not sure how this bimbo ended up covering Michigan football. Time was, the GRPress had a decent sportswriter or two (Mayo, e.g.).

I thought the same thing. I don't remember there being much positive press at the end of the Bill Callahan era. But to be fair, Nebraska was due for a downturn after Osborne, who was turning a bit into Bowden except he knew when to walk away.

Weren't they hiring a new sports editor a few months ago? I remember several friends sending a GR Press sporstwriting job to me and saying "you should apply!" because friends don't know the difference between a publisher of a magazine they've never heard of and a sports editor of a mid-sized city's newspaper.

Totally agree with you Brian....great column and great analysis. The Rich Rod Error has been a disaster and should end after this season....if Michigan football wants to get back to being a premier program again.
But that is not going to happen.
The Koolaid drinkers like that loser at mgoblog keep preaching about their King Rich Rod...and Dave Brandon seems to have his back as well.

I love how they bring up Nebraska into all this. It may look like the same situation that we have here, but thats untrue. Callahan was all business. He didn't give a Sh*t about any of the players he coached. Callahan was a great recruiter but couldn't develope tallent, He had all the tallent in the world and he couldn't do a thing with it.

I mean, I really like GR as I've lived here for the past seven years, but let's be honest, no one really goes to the Whitecaps (and to a slightly less degree, the Griffins) unless it's cheap beer nite.

Right on man -- born and raised here and have had to deal with shitty journalism from birth. We have awful sports radio and awful newspapers. Sean and Terp is painful to listen to, and Huge is a terd (aside from him interviewing, he's a good interviewer). I actually don't mind Bakita and Grey in the mornings -- they are decent except when they bring in Ty Hallock on Fridays. He is absolutely HORRIBLE -- slappy Sparty douche. I actually think I really hate Hallock on the radio more than anyone.

Hallock can barely get out a coherent sentence -- he starts every one with "Um" or "Uhh" or "Ya know." Then he'll pause for about 3-4 seconds, and finally mumble something about MSU being the greatest team ever, then trail off.
I really think his brain has been damaged. Or, he's just incredibly dumb. It's hard to tell. Either way, the guy provides zero insight into anything and is an embarrassment to radio in Grand Rapids.
As for Sean & Terp, they're not bad to listen to when Sean isn't talking, which is roughly 90% of the time, so I guess they pretty much suck. Baligian never fucking shuts up, railing on the same goddamn point seven different times. You can listen for five straight minutes and never hear Terp speak. I can't imagine getting only 10% of the talk time is what he signed up for. I do really enjoy listening to Tom Kowalksi, though.

When I read the article I thought it did come from freep and not the grpress. I guess when you have the M beat you can say all you want against the program. I agree that the paper slants toward msu because of all the boosters there but it is not easy to take. Unfortunately, the Muskegon paper is owned by the same people that have the press and we get their garbage all the time.
