Old School?

Submitted by Ziff72 on

Other than the shotgun this felt like an old school Lloyd Carr game prior to a big contest.  This was one of those games like before an Ohio St or Penn St game or ND game where we came out on the road against an overmatched opponent with the all vanilla game plan.  We allowed them to stay in the game and keep them pumped up.  In the end we grounded out the W and everybody was upset going into rivalry game thinking we had little chance to win.

The O was so bad today I can only hope there focus will be laser sharp this week in practice.

Purdue has the worst offense in division 1a football.

If the MSU line is under 30 bet your house, Purdue fought like dogs today, but  they have no talent left due to injuries and will be out of gas next week as their bowl hopes are done and their Michigan Super Bowl is over.   MSU will win by 50.

Offense was off (in particular the Oline didn't live up to previous performances), but it really looked like bad conditions out there.  A wet grass field in November is just a dirty slip-n-slide.

but when the conditions are slippery you have to be extra careful. Look at Denard's first fumble, he carried the ball on the inside while running outside. That was a bad decision.

Might eb the greatest comparison of field conditions in history.

Dont forget everyone, there is nothing that kills offensive talent like not being able to cut. Especially our offense, which has a bunch of misdirection and quick routes. Offensive line looked over-matched, but so did theirs.. which leads me to suspect that footing was terrible for holding ground

for the first time this year, our O-line got owned.  Kerrigan is a beast, but he has 3 other good players with him.  Plus Kerrigan is a beast is a tremendous understatement.  Holy hell that d-line was amazing.

Who is their D-coordinator and would Hope get pissed if we got him?

From my perch in the top row of the stadium the interceptions seemed to be thrown directly to the Purdue defenders with no M guy nearby. This did not seem to be weather related.

I'm happy to get a win that isn't an absurd blowout and isn't pulled out of our ass at the last minute.  It feels like old times.  And winning despite not playing so great.  That's improvement.
