O.T. UNACCEPTABLE

I demand to know how GERG is planning to defeat this questionable tactic.

They need to work on shedding blocks. Notice the key block by the 20 yard line which eliminated any chance of the ball carrier being caught from behind.

I thought Vinopal was moving quite fast when I watched the replay tonight.

I love his grittiness though. He came up with a huge stop towards the end of the game, among other commendable plays on his part.

he will be a stud.  He is getting better at grittifying his moxie, but to play at this elite level it is more important to have some grit with the appropriate amount of moxie topping.  Jim Leonard learned how to moxificate his grittuitous nature early in his career and has been perfecting the art ever since - I heard last week that he has now moved on to grimoxitting his intangables.  Something to shoot for, Ray.

First that guy sneaks into the stadium with a rifle during the MSU game and now this?  Where is the stadium security?  UNACCEPTABLE!

but seriously

Vinopal was moving quite fast

He's showing he's got some speed, which ATM is lacking in our secondary.  I  remember a teammate mentioning that Vinopal might be one of the fastest guys on the squad (aside from DRob).  Only downside for him is A) a freshman  and B) not very big.   B will be solved via Barwis.  A will be corrected with time.  I think he's going to be a good safety.

Your talking about Mouton right? I saw this play when I was at the Cubby Bear in Chicago and it was a good thing their weekend beer special is 4 160z beer bucket for $12.

I believe the OP is referring to Mouton's pathetic attempt at a tackle.

Angles and tackling drills are something that are worked on during the spring and in pre-season camp.  9 games into the season?  Meh, I wouldn't expect much change UNTIL THE BOWL GAME!   Woo Hooo, bowl practice.

Bullets travel faster than the speed of sound, you hear its sonic boom.  If the kitten was far enough away, the sound could conceivably take 4 seconds or so to reach your ears.

Helluva sniper shot to hit a moving target from 1000 yards+ though.

That was poor technique by Mouton. He should lead with his right shoulder. Instead he leads with his left shoulder, whiffs, then tries to arm tackle. He also stutter-stepped for some reason which negated the angle he had on the runner. I think he was more worried about a cutback, although I'm not sure why.

His short, stumpy legs have to move so fast to cover the same amount of ground that non-stumpy players do that it makes him look gritty. He's still stuck at the moxie level.

Mouton will not be here next year. That was an epic whiff by Mouton. He made a great play at the end of the game but it's things like this that make him so frustrating to root for day in day out.

One of the more frustrating things about that play was that James Rodgers almost got to the play (coming from the other side of the field) but was BLOCKED by the official (back judge?).  You can't see it in the replay, but if the official gets the hell out of the way, we might have had a stop for a first and goal.  (Not that *that* would have necessarily ended differently...)
