Who should be our next defensive coordinator?

Submitted by artds on

To those who realize that we will be going in a different direction at DC next year, who do you think we should hire?

To the rest of you, I'm sorry that your impending negs failed to deter me from posting this question. Hopefully you guys will come around before too long and see what the rest of us see.

you shut up, you fucking moron.  we gave up 65 points today.  only a moron like you would think that new defensive coordinator wasnt an appopriate topic of conversation.

if we had a decent defense to go along with this offense, we'd be stellar.  my vote right now is for mike trgovac to be hired as DC/DL coach...and to let him hire his own LB coach (replacing Tall) and DB coach (replacing Braithwaite).  That allows Rodriguez to keep Gibson on staff as a full time special teams coach (something else that we desperately need).

Sometimes I hate coming onto Mgoblog after the game on Saturdays because I know there will be 15 posts about why we shouldn't be happy about the game and what needs to change for us.

Not only are you posting this just a few hours after a huge win, but you're doing it after a game in which the defense looked good. I seriously think you might be an idiot.

It's too bad, but I think the defense played better than giving up 65 points.  They had some stops and had to deal with all those turnovers.  I think we should wait and see how GERG does for the remaining games.  I am actually optimistic about the D and think they are definitely improving,.

Given the five turnovers by the offense, the defense made enough stops to give the offense a chance to win the game. I think it's also unfair to look only at the 65 points, when 20 of those were scored in overtime. 45 points may be a lot to give up in regulation, but with such a young and inexperienced defense combined with having to overcome five turnovers, this was an encouraging defensive performance.

Amen to waiting how the rest of the season goes before passing judgment on any of the coaches.

Clean house and use those Michigan millions to buy the best.....whomever that may be. Also make sure that RR has no say at all in the D.

if you give up 65 points in a ball game you can say they looked good. I saw improvements in tackling and third down defense as well as mixing up looks for Illinois. But we need to go in a different direction and get back to making this defense dominant in the Big 10 again. This team will not go where we want it to go unless this defense improves drastically! That being said i am extremely proud of the boys today!

But only if he can bring Peter to coach the db's and Paul to coach the Lb's, Thomas to coach the Dline.

Also, he must hold to his guns and run the 4-3 instead of the 3-3-5.

Switch to the "Plaint text editor" first, paste the code, and you should be golden.  You can even switch back to the "Rich text editor" and you'll see a box for the flash video if you want to double check.

The other option is the "Source" button.  Click it, paste the code, and then click the source button again.

Earlier this week the Illinois DC was being lauded for turning that program around in one year and for doing the same thing at a BIG 12 school a few years ago.  Does anyone think he's a genius right now?  There are many reasons for player improvement and physical and emotional maturity may be at the top of the list.

We all know about the reasons Michigan is playing an ungodly number of freshmen as well as playing people in new positions.  The defense is playing as most of us thought they would.  Excluding the Penn State debacle I'm not sure anyone could have done much more with this team.  If they improve next year (and the gods don't strike us down) it will probably have as much to do with experience and confidence as it does with schemes and formations.

This thread is hilarious.  Only here would the d-coordinator of a team that gave up 106 points over the last two weeks be defended.  The defense didn't look good, it looked like dog crap...has the defense never seen a wheel route before?  It's not like Zook invented it before this game.
