Roundtree crushes the M single game receiving record.

Hope he saved a little for good friend Danny Hope and Purdue next week.

Isn't it alittle premature for this talk?

Roy was fantastic, he had me on the edge of my seat all game. I think he made a strong argument for the jersey today. Anyone else think 8-4 is possible now? I do!

Stonum was jabbin' about the #1 jersey not that long ago, if I'm not mistaken. Out of Stonum, Roundtree, and Hemmingway, I would definitely give it to Roundtree. He came up huge in the Notre Dame game and he came up huge today.

This offense has such a bright future, I can't wait!

He had a great game, but I don't think so. It's not like he was making outrageous catches. Is he really that much better than Hemingway or Stonum? I don't think he comes close to Braylon level. I guess it depends on what the standard is.

"but a few more games like today and he will def be in the running for it."

So if he puts up 1000 yards receiving in 4 games then he might have a shot at the #1 with you?

Maybe you would like the Lord himself to come down to A2 as a receiver before you feel someone is worthy. The kid still has his best 2 years of football ahead of him..give him the dam jersey.

In all of my years of football, I have never heard of a receiver going for 246 yards in one game and is magically ignored by defenses for the rest of the season.

He's here, fellas!  He "came into his own" already.  Braylon made drops as well, but he still rocked the #1...

It's his, give it to him!

Incredible day for Roundtree. however i think Hemingway is the best reciever we have..clutch catches..the juggle catch today for a td and the 2 point conversion..sidleine catches?  he's my 1st choice. but not quite yet. let them compete for it next year

Um, what?  Hemingway has played in 2 less games this year, and has the same amount of TD's as Rountree and only 165 less yards despite Roundtree's monster day and the fact Rountree is targeted far more as a simple function of thew offense.  Hemingway has a far better yards per catch.  They have the same amount of 100 yard games this year despite, again, Rountree playing in 2 more games.  Hemingway has also been more consistent this year.

Hemingway:

Illinois-6 catches, 104 yards, 2 TD's

PSU-1 catch, 21 yards

Iowa-9 catches, 134 yards, 1 TD

MSU-2 catches, 42 yards

Indiana-3 catches, 129 yards, 1 TD

BGSU-2 catches, 25 yards

UMass-1 catch, 36 yards

Roundtree

Illinois-9 catches, 246 yards, 2 TD's

PSU-3 catches, 15 yards

Iowa-2 catches, 10 yards

MSU-6 catches, 48 yards

Indiana-5 catches, 126 yards, 1 TD

BGSU-9 catches, 118 yards

UMass-2 catches, 12 yards

ND-8 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD

UConn-1 catch, -1 yard

Roy has had 4 games this year with under 20 receiving yards.  Hemingway hasn't had any.  I'm not saying Junior is clearly better than Roy, or that Roy has been complete shit outside this one game. You could easily debate the merits of either.   I'm simply pointing out that saying Junior hasn't done shit compared to Roy is completely ridiculous.

I'd say if anyone was overreacting to one game, it's you.

Roundtree's had plenty of drops both this year and last as well.  He had at least three drops that I saw in this game alone.  Let's not act like Roy has glue hands here.  Both guys have dropped some balls.  Overall, I'd say Hemingway has better hands and is far better on the deep and jump balls.

As for fighting to get in position, I'm not sure what you're watching really.  Hemingway has repeatedly gone up over guys to make catches, and made plenty of catches in traffic.  When was the last time you saw Roy go up over a guy for a catch?  Roy makes plenty of catches across the middle, sure.  But he's not going up over anyone to make a catch at this point, and he really hasn't shown the ability to catch the deep ball over the shoulder either.  He's a beast on those deep crossing patterns though.

Again, I think you could make an argument for either guy.  My point was simply that saying Junior "hasn't done shit" compared to Roy is just plain ignorant.

I think it's pretty close - and would be even moreso if Hemingway had been able to play in the first two games.  Hemingway is more of a traditional guy wearing the #1 jersey - a downfield threat with great body control.  But they're both really good.

On a side note, I think it's interesting that none of our receivers wear numbers in the 80s, which used to be standard.  We have #8 (T. Robinson), #9 (Odoms),  #10 (Gallon), #12 (Roundtree), #17 (Jackson), #19 (Grady), #21 (Hemingway) and #22 (Stonum).

Kidding me?  you call yourself a Michi fan and you basically said Hemingway is shit, or his contribution is shit?  Really ?  i think you need your prorities stright my fellow fan.  Hemingways potential far excedes Roundtree IMO.  far more physical...better hands, breaks tackles etc.  when healty he's just better. today or anyday.  put hemingway in the slot and run the same play roundtree had scores on.

Both are great, but neither are really NUm1 worthy.

We'll C what happens

Roy is great but I think Junior Hemingway has to be under consideration because of his knack for coming up with the big play when it is needed. Then after Hemingway graduates I would give it to Roundtree.

i have a hard time trusting Junior's hands. Sometimes he's brilliant, sometimes he looks like he's got clubs for hands.

Roy is definitely the most reliable, although he does have a surprising flat drop once in awhile.

when we win, Roy's been a big part of the game. He's been largely absent the last three, however.
