Bye week blues--plans for the Saturday off?

Submitted by Noleverine on

While the bye week is good for the team and getting people healthy, personally I am having difficulty with it.  There is still the bad taste in my mouth from the Iowa game, and all I want is to cleanse my palate with a UM win.  But, sadly, I wont get that for at least another week.

So, my question is: what are you all doing to cope with the bye week today?  Is it a Wife Day, like Six Zero, or something different?  Going to the bar to watch some other good match-ups from around the country?  Photoshopping Lloyd Brady a little more?

Personally, I will be spending my Saturday reflecting on glories past.  I will be watching the Capital One Bowl victory over Florida, the overtime wins against State, the 2008 Wiscy game, and the 2005 Penn State game, to name a few.  I plan on using this Saturday to bask in the past, and renew my hopes for this year and years to come.

Please share your Saturday plans, and maybe help some others find ways to deal with the off-week.

Remember that guy who got arrested for pretending to be a military officer? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5710536

Well, I'm going to be the real deal.  I go to a crappy football school (UC Davis) but my bro goes to Cal.  I'm in the military (reserves, so read: "fake military") so I can be on the field watching Cal take on ASU.  Granted....I will sneak into the student section (and off the field) my first available opportunity.  However, I will be both
1.) On the field and taking pictures with players.

2.) In the student section with my awesome older brother
3.) pre halloween party to plan for (and get drunk during).

My weekend is awesome.  I lovezzzz college.  (BTW just finished 4 midterms.)

Well, I like UC Davis (where I go, about 90 minutes drive from Da Bay; 15 from Sac).  The weather here is awesome, and the life is pretty good.  Lots of protests tho.

Cal, on the other hand, is....wierd?  Protestests about every weekend (tho only "major" ones about every other month.  "Major" is doing something stupid like lyind down in the middle of a highway, by the by.)  The weather sucks (rain, rain, and to change things up....fog).  Meh, It's not really that bad but my brother goes there so I have to rag on him.  It truly is a school that every 20-30 year old needs to see; it's eclectic, screwey, and intelligent people all in the same area....It's the UM of the West, much like Harvard is the UM of the East.  *Laughs*

today in Prague. With my work starting to compound and my thesis sneaking up on me I am going to take what may be the last opportunity to hit up the beer garden. Not like the work is going anywhere.

One of my good friends here went to OU and a guy that I know who lives upstairs is a MZZOU alum. The plan is to head back from the bar a little early tonight and then the 3 of us will settle around the slingbox. I like OU in a blowout.

My apartment went to hell this week from studying, so I'll probably be doing some cleaning to procrastinate some more studying. Play a little ultimate, watch a little UFC, then back at the hearts and lungs tomorrow.

One thing is that despite all the MSM effort to pump it up, Michigan State's game doesn't interest me.  They are really boring to watch. I watched the whole U of M game and the field goal against Notre Dame, but that was by random accident.

Probably a lot of folks on here will watch though.

I am in greenville, SC for the Furman Homecoming. It is my wife's 5 year anniversary from Furman. I am going to the Furman/Chatanooga game. I will be at the game rocking a #16 jersey. Chris Forcier is out of the for the season unfortunately. So I cannot see both of them play this season.

Got a room at the mgm tonite for me and the wife. We drive up every saturday from cleveland and she cooks food for our tailgate...has converted to being a michigan fan after being raised a buckeye...is 10 years younger than me and hot....AND is my DD for the trip home after the game. I figured it was the least I could do.

We're getting ready to head to Chicago for a an overnighter. We'll hit a nice Italian restaurant and then head to The Second City for a show and then back home in time tomorrow to head to the Palace to see Roger Waters'  The Wall... this is where I scream like a little girl... is it Sunday night yet?

(I've had a beef brisket sitting in a dry rub for 48 hours and will be throwing it on the smoker shortly.)

I'm also taking my JV team down to Ford Field for the Prep Bowl.  We're getting a trophy for winning our division.  When we return to school, we're smashing that trophy with a sledge hammer.  We don't want a JV championship to be the highlight of these boy's high school football career.  (Funny what high school football coaches will do to send a message.  But that's what makes this game so memorable for these young men).

Headed to a friends house to watch the Sparty game, then just enjoying a day of not having to worry about Michigan winning. Then next week it is off to State College to watch what will hopefuly be a Michigan win and getting back on track!

Going to grill some steaks and start drinking around noon. Probably will start really around right now. Then heading to the Louisville UConn game at 3:30. Will be rooting for UConn so they will have a winning record and because I don't and never will own anything red to wear.

so I'll be going to the gym and burning off some belly, then make preps to gain some belly by buying myself some wine and preparing to become a Northwestern Wildcat for the day and hope for a big upset against the Sparties. I will follow that up with checking out the other games as well. LSU/Auburn; is LSU really good or just damn lucky? Iowa/Wisconsin should be a good game. Of course I will ponder how things are going to be against Penn St. for the umpteenth time; I know they've had a lot of injuries but looking at who they've lost too, we don't know how good or bad they are: Alabama, Iowa, and Illinois. Illinois lost to OSU, Missouri, and Michigan St. so who knows how good they are as well. Go Blue!

a local college in Northern Kentucky.  I'm going to help out with the athletic director in game day operations for a few hours to gain experience in working in sports industry.  After that, I'll be watching football games when I get back home then go out to the bars with my friends.  whoo for single life!

Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

Taking the 5 and 2 year old out.  It's wet and rainy in West Michigan so I think we're headed to GR to the museum.  Mom is in Chi-town with the ladies for the weekend.  Should be a good time as long as I can manage naps better than Les Miles manages the end of games.

Chopping and delivering wood for a fundraiser, followed by any football game I can watch before heading out to a corn maze.  Hopefully it does not rain.

instead of me drinking all day and the wife taking care of the kids, I'm taking care of the kids and the wife will be going on some bus ride for some other chicks birthday and drinking all day.

building a gaming computer for a friend. I almost snapped a part I was fitting, when MSU got that fake punt. After that I turned off the tv to avoid any potential distractions.

...and I'm following that up by watching our 3 year old and 1 year old daughters while she finishes a work project, bypassing the trip to Champps to watch UFC 121.  Since the Lions are off tomorrow as well, I'm sure more domestic "fun" is in store.

went to homecoming at Vanderbilt (she's an alum), ate way too much southern food and took in the Vandy-S. Carolina game. It was surprisingly competitive, as the Gamecocks only run variations on 3 basic plays on offense and Vandy lead 7-0 until late in the first half. Unfortunately, Vanderbilt does not have an offense to speak of and eventually lost 21-7. Still, Nashville was fun, the Fiancee was happy and I got to watch a football game!
