FL QB Kevin Sousa

Before getting into the latest, enjoy video from Sousa's week 5 and 6 games:

Note that even when he's completing passes or making good runs, he's under constant pressure from the opposing defense (and take a look at the number of drops, as well). I wouldn't worry too much about his poor high school stats, especially since he'll have plenty of time in the system before he sees the field.

Last week: Lake Nona beat(!) Celebration 34-14. I couldn't find a game article, so I'll update with Kevin's stats after Tom talks to his coach. UPDATED.

MI WR Shawn Conway

Last Week: Seaholm loses to Ferndale 21-28. I was there, but I'm having a fight with Youtube, so I can't embed the video until I get it working. I'll update it in the space below when it's available.

Conway was still hampered by his ankle injury, limping between plays. Offensively, he was mostly used as a decoy, either on fly sweeps or combo routes. He caught the ball just once for 14 yards, and ran it once for 7. He was only targeted a couple more times, once drawing a pass interference call, and another time he saw a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half go over his head... and eventually be run back about 70 yards for a pick-6 (particularly damaging considering the Maples lost the game by seven points). The quarterback play was sketchy as always, with Seaholm rotating between a "passing" (and I use that term loosely) quarterback and a runner.

In other phases of the game, Conway looked OK. He had kickoff returns of 52, 35, and 37 yards, and on two of them he was very close to taking it all the way back, but the last man brought him down. On defense, he had one pass breakup and committed one pass interference penalty. Ferndale was primarily a running team, so he wasn't tested much, and since he's not expected to play on that side of the ball at the next level, I didn't pay as much attention to his game there.

The RB looks like a Pee-Wee player next to Sousa on those highlights. He hung in there to block some DL's that were twice his size though so kudos to him.

Tim,

Would it be possible to get the W/L record for all of the players? Clearly not all of them have easily trackable stats but perhaps but their team's current record in the 'This Week' column after the team name?

Souse looks massive out there - I'm sure that at least some of the kids on his team are on the smaller side of football players, but he looks like Dwight Howard in HS out there. Still, I think he'll be a nice addition once he has a couple of years in the system.

Good work as always Tim.

I am familiar with Napoleon and know several people who saw that game.  Most people didn't come away impressed.  The sum of what I heard was great straightline speed, not physical at all, poor hands, and poor tackling.  Just one game so I'm not down on the kid by any means, just passing along what some people thought of his performance.

Ok, beating Celebration really doesn't count. That's the city one minute outside of Disney World that was a master-planned community by the Walt Disney Corporation. What's their nickname, the Mice?

is Dr Phillips just really that good, are their opponents really that bad, or a combination of the two?  Avg game so far is about 51-3, with a W/L margin of almost 48 points.  I know they're mentioned as having several D-1 level players.

I don't want to in any way talk bad about any recruits, but Chris Rock has a way to go before he can contribute in D-I college football. I play for Bishop Watterson, and our offensive gameplan was largely based around going straight at him. He has the size and strength, but he takes a lot of plays off and doesn't have much intensity. Hopefully that will all change soon. I will say that he is a really nice guy, high character, and is very funny.

I hate to say it about a Michigan commit, but I agree with you on Rock (from what I've seen). Not sure if it's an attitude, endurance, or some other issue, but he has a lot to work on before he's ready to contribute at a BCS level.
