John U. Bacon: Why college football is better than the pros

My rationale would have been Brett Favre. However, spot on, as always from John.

I know the Lions play the Giants, but don't give them a loss before they play the game.

That article kind of goes back to what Bo said in his "the team" speech. Saying at Michigan will be the last time you are playing for the team. When you go off to the pros, you are playing for a contract or "this or that." I agree though, college football is the atmosphere, the experience, and the players playing for their school.

Good article, but I could have done without a mention of The Horror.

Atmosphere
NFL = Wine and cheese crowd
NCAA = band, anthems

I instantly thought of Bo's speech as well.
There are passionate fans in pro football, but not even close to college.
Compare The Game to the biggest NFL rivalry and its not even close.
Entire states feud everyday because of college teams. Ohio and Michigan, Missouri and Kansas.
College football is the best

Is John U. Bacon better than pro football????

Being a Saints fan and getting to experience the Super Bowl win on Bourbon street I would have to disagree. I love Michigan football more than the pros, but overall the NFL is much better. The NFL playoffs is much better than the bowl season.

Pretty much sums up why I don't watch NFL, or just about any pro sports anymore for that matter. Millionaires playing for billionaires vs players playing for the team and pride.
