Where has Moundros been?

Submitted by canzhiye on

Considering how bad Obi Ezeh was playing today, I was expecting more of Moundros. I remember him playing against UConn, but not much after that.

had good intenetions of switching to middle linebacker, I'm not sure he would provide much better play than Ezeh unfortunately. I would really like to see some one like "Demons" get a little more playing time.

its hard to imagine a worse middle linebacker than obi, but i guess it is possible that a middle linebacker could make zero tackles, rather than 2 every game right?  I just cant imagine that no one has seriously challenged him for playing time.  What about Jake Ryan, sure he is a small freshmen MLB, but what do we have to lose by playing him, we get no production from the MLB spot.

I can't imagine any of the other options at LB to play any worse in game situations as Obi has played.  I like the options of Demons and Ryan.  Everytime I have seen Demons in on goal line, he seems as though he has a great knack for filling the gaps, only problem I have seen is he has trouble wrapping up.  Which at least he gets his hat on the RB.

At this point, I'm not against moving Kovacs down to MLB and taking the chances.  Sure he's small, but at least he seems to know how to tackle consistently.  I wish Obi the best in his future, but right now he's just not cutting it at LB for UM.  I guess Demens is also an option, but the fact that Obi is apparently good enough to beat him out in practice is a little scary.

He has not been very good. Certainly no improvement over Obi Ezeh. It’s a feel-good story that a fifth-year guy makes it to team captain in his first year at linebacker. To expect someone who never played the position would supplant a Big Ten starter (even a poor one) was never realistic.

He's been in on some special teams too.

Sarcasm aside I don't know if he would be any better.  To switch from FB to LB in one year and be good at it would be very hard to do.   I'd be surprised if he played better than Ezeh at this point.
