Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings 10-10-10

Submitted by Tim on

A new commit for Michigan means we're hitting the front page. Action since last rankings:

3-14-09 Michigan gains commitment from Antonio Kinard.

10-4-10 Indiana gains commitment from Cody Latimer.

10-6-10 Wisconsin gains commitment from Denzel Doe.

10-8-10 Michigan gains commitment from Demetrius Hart. Iowa gains commitment from Melvin Spears.

10-9-10 Wisconsin gain commitment from Tyler Marz.

If you see any errors in the individual tables, please let me know. I'm tempted to move Indiana down a bit, but their averages per commit are about even with (or only very slightly behind) the teams nipping at their heels, and they have more commits.

Rivals rankings are on the "RR" scale, which is on a scale from about 5 to about 6.1. Unrated prospects are given a 5.1 rating, on par with the worst of any Big Ten commit last year. Scout is on the 5-star system (unranked players earn star), and ESPN uses grades out of 100 (unranked is 40 or 45).

With their higher commit numbers, Notre Dame is actually pretty close to passing Ohio State, though a deflated ranking on Scout (which hasn't rated kickers) keeps them well behind on the average at that site.

I'm wondering if Nebraska should fall to 5.  They are only 1 commit ahead of us, but we have higher ratings per Scout and ESPN. So:

1. Ohio State

2. Notre Dame

3. MSU

4. Michigan

5. Nebraska

Actually, you raise a good point. I've been a little hesitant to move teams around lately, for whatever reason.

That said, the Huskers still have unranked prospects to both Scout (hasn't ranked kickers) and ESPN (hasn't ranked - maybe never does - JuCos), so their rankings are a little deflated.

How does ND continue to top defensive talent.  Stephon Tuitt and the Atkinson twins are great players.

Rich needs to take a page out of kelly recruiting book

Hey all,

Does anyone know if there is an iCal/Google Calendar/Outlook calendar anywhere with the Michigan Hockey schedule for the upcoming season?  I've googled pretty extensively to no avail and it's a bummer the athletic site doesn't support any of the above.  Could someone (read: rational poster not screaming about losing to sparty [we're still 5-1..]) kindly start a message board thread containing this message?

Many of the positions the ND recruits are listed at are wrong.

George Atkinson III will play WR.

Anthony Rabasa, Clay Burton, and Ben Councell will all be OLBs.

Tony Springmann and Brad Carrico will be DEs.

Carrico was moved to OL this year but was a full-time DE last year and that's what he's been recruited to play by the Irish coaching staff and will start at next summer (although there is a good possiblity he will move especially if ND does not land another OL this class).

I think there is very little chance that both carrico and springman are still slated for DE with lynch and tuitt committed.  One of them is that ROT that the staff was trying to fill, likely Carrico.  When you add in all the recruiting they're still doing with ishaq, niklas and drew and they still plan to add more to this class up front.

They just offered Zach Martin's brother to probably replace Wenger, so it would seem they're intending to beef up both sides of the line still.  there is a lot left to happen with this class it seems.
