TomVH: 2012 LB Reggie Ragland

Submitted by TomVH on

I just wrote an article for U Recruit on 2012 LB Reggie Ragland, and thought I would share the Michigan news with you here.

Ragland currently has offers from Alabama, Auburn, and Kentucky. He's a 6-foot-4, 245-pound linebacker from Alabama that also plays wide receiver for his high school. He's a monster, and he's also hoping to hear from Michigan.

Of course Michigan is one of my top schools. I always loved to watch them play.

I also asked him about how Denard Robinson's success might help Michigan with recruiting:

He might win the Heisman this year. If we think the school isn't going to have players we might not look at them, so he helps them a lot.

Just a name to keep an eye on for the future. Most schools are recruiting him for linebacker or tight end.

kind of a big deal

A LB that Bama is recruiting?  If he's good enough for Bama's D, he could probably start on ours right now.

In all seriousness though, RR needs to get in on more impact players on D, as has been rehashed here on the blog frequently.

I love that we are already talking about 2012 recruits and the fact that they are young and impressionable enough for Denard to have a big impact on their decision-making.  I forget what it was like to be a junior in high school and be so influenceable (yes, I made up that word).

It's refreshing to hear that we're competing with Alabama for recruits. For a while there it seemed like we were going up against the Illinois's and Minnesotas of the world for recruits...and not always winning.

We are trending positively.
