Schlabach thinks we are contenders

Schlabach thinks we can run the table because of our offense.

As long as our O outweighs our D, we have potential to win every game. We can sure as hell score points than anyone. This week is a big test.

Shocked that he is a convert, but shouldn't be a surprise. Denard has converted most. I could care less what Schlabach says. I remember him early in the year mocking us. Him and the pony, now the Pony votes us #10 in his AP poll. I guess everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.

That is not good news. He hs been wrong so mny times this year I have lost count.
October 4th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
Don't worry, he predicted a loss on Saturday:
Who wins this weekend in the big house, Michigan or Michigan State?
I'm going with Sparty. They play defense
October 4th, 2010 at 4:34 PM ^
The less he mentions Michigan the better.

I just wanna point out that on their "coaches on the hot seat" list, RIchRod was not on it. What a difference a 5 weeks and a 5-0 start make.
October 4th, 2010 at 4:12 PM ^
Because you know a loss or two and they'll all be back to overreacting about how we will fall apart in the big ten
October 4th, 2010 at 6:19 PM ^
After we win on Saturday, that meme will be gone for good. Any remaining criticism will be directed at GERG instead.

This makes me happy
October 4th, 2010 at 2:53 PM ^
BUT, I will take any good publicity the team can get. It certainly won't hurt recruiting and that is what we desperately need.
October 4th, 2010 at 2:55 PM ^
All the uncertainty was involving Big 10 play. With our offense producing outrageous numbers and Denard being in heisman talks, people lost their focus. RR still needs a win against MSU or OSU (hopefully both) to keep off the hot seat. Also, we definitely need to improve in the Big 10.
OSU looked sluggish against Ill. Plus their starting DB is out for the year...

With our offense, I think we can play with almost anyone. Remember, there were three times we were THIS CLOSE to another TD:
- Roundtree catch/Denard fumble.
- Denard to Hemingway overthrow
- Denard to Roundtree overthrow (or was it Grady? Need UFR.)
Regardless, I think that we can hang points on virtually anyone.
October 4th, 2010 at 3:00 PM ^
I believe the third was to T-Rob, but it really isn't that important. This offense was dangerously close to 56 points. I'm in no way complaining, 42 is enough to satisfy me, but we did leave some points on the field.

The fumble hurts because that would have put us up two scores, and I think that would have crushed Indiana into submission.
The overthrows hurt because they caused 3 and outs. I would much rather see 3 runs than 1 run and 2 passes. Get 1 or 2 first downs running to give our defense a breather then take your shots.
Our longest drive was 9 plays. After that they were all 5 or less. We had four 3 and outs and one 4 and out. Had we run the ball more on those 3 and outs, we might have averaged more than 4 plays per drive OR scored 4 more touchdowns.

If we miss too many of these we are toast b/c our D does not offer us much hope
October 4th, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
Fortunately, our offense can score faster than our D gives up scores.
October 4th, 2010 at 5:06 PM ^
If I remember correctly, we also punted a couple times on 4th and 1 in areas where we could have gone for it...so yeah, we definitely had an opportunity to score well into the 50's and maybe even the 60's.
October 4th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
that's too bad, b/c shlabach is habitually wrong. though he did pick us to lose on saturday, so that's a good thing.
October 4th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
I hate Schlabach. He was such a douchenozzle about his UConn "upset" pick, I don't want to listen to him at all. I prefer he wasn't on the bandwagon.
October 4th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
Have you met me?
October 4th, 2010 at 4:25 PM ^
I saw that and my first reaction, honestly, was "is that guy insane?! I just want to win another game!" And that will be my attitude going forward. I just want to win this game and I'm not worried about anything else.
Last year I made the mistake of getting ahead of myself after the hot start. Not again. One game at a time. Seriously.

Have any cornbread to go with that Coolaid?

This post is at a FAIL level too lengthly to explain.

I prefer Koka-Kola or Maotin Doo.

If we get 8 wins I will give a thumbs up and say "Mission Accomplished." I can't even imagine a coaching change and another 3 years of transition. However if GERG got fired I can't imagine it would be that hard to transition to a new defensive coordinator. It looks like they got their defensive playbook from NCAA Football 11, except only the zone plays, and those don't even work in the game.
October 5th, 2010 at 2:15 AM ^
Every year the Mission is the Big Ten Title. 8 wins means a 3-4 finish (or 3-5 if you think we're losing a bowl game...which lulz if we face an opponent with a similar record... that team will so be Denarded). Bleck.
