OT: Rooting for Sparty this week?
Question: Are people in MGoBlogville rooting for Sparty this weekend?
My two-cents worth: Normally, I would probably cheer on Sparty against Wisconsin (Wisconsin fans are obnoxious) but I submit that a MSU loss tomorrow hurts Sparty to the point that they come into the Michigan game a bit deflated and flat. I'm not one to hope for Michigan's competition to come in at less than 100% but, well, I guess that's what I'm rooting for here. Not that I don't think Michigan can win next weekend - I'd just rather see Michigan come in with a leg up on the competition.

Non-conference - Yes, because duh.
Bowl game - Yes, because duh.
Conference game against crappy teams - Yes, so they won't be seen as a total loser of a team when they play Michigan, just perpetually mediocre.
Conference game against good teams - No, because it's Sparty and we never want them to have any real success.
Conference game against Michigan - If you have to ask...
Note: When I say "root for MSU" in the context of bowl/OOC games, I really mean "root for that team that happens to be in our conference."

My schedule shows that MSU is playing Wisconsin. However, you have asked whether I am rooting for Sparty. That must mean that they are playing the University of Nazi-Terrorist-Klansmen-Child Molesters. I didn't realize that U of NTKCM was on their schedule this year. As that apears to be the case, I'll probably root for Sparty. After all, they are playing child molesting Klansmen who are also Nazis and terrorists. However, if, by chance, the Wisconisn Badgers show up, I'll probably have to go with the Badgers. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

In an ideal world we could beat all of our rivals at their highest respective rankings of the season. I draw the line at rooting for Sparty in a bowl game or in some situation where it can make the Big 10 look good. For now, do whatever you want Sparty, cause you're going to get beat by us next week.
Not like it's going to happen this year, but who do you guys root for when Sparty plays OSU?

Not our rival.

i'm hoping for epic irony. they lose in overtime on a fake field goal. that would be the ultimate sparty no moment.

I never cheer for sparty...i want them to lose every game. I HATE MSU!

I would rather have a root canal with no novocain or nitrous.

The sooner Sparty's collapse starts, the better.

I really don't care as long as Wisconsin roughs em up. Gameday probably isn't coming here anyway

This game may be close through 3QTRs but Sparty's D will get worn down by the WI O line and running game. I see a WI 38 - MSU 31 final. Sparty's D will be sore and lethargic coming into the big house next weekend.

I don't think State will win this weekend, nor do I want them to win.

Bleh! Rooting for Sparty? Ummm... NO!

I would not root for Michigan State in almost any circumstance. Obviously I'm no fan of Wisconsin either. Whatever outcome will be better for Michigan is the outcome I want to see. Not really sure what that is. Can we PLEASE beat MSU this year!

As someone who actually graduated from MSU, I don't see myself rooting for them until after the UM game. I don't want MSU to have any momentum going into that game. Afterwards, I may indifferently "root" for them against certain teams.

Two words: Hell no. I hope Wiscy demoralizes them in their house. Fuck that smash mouth vanilla shit and put those bastards away. We've seen it time and time again; they start off 3 or 4-0, and then crash and burn. Not only that, but they don't play OSU yet again, so that is one less loss they will receive.
