Dog Names for Michigan fan
I have one dog named Maizey, not too original but I was lazy. For my next dog I was debating a couple names that would be better than simple Maize or Blue. I was thinking Bo, but that is used for dogs too much as it is.
This is what I came up with
Boy Dog:
Harmon
Howard
Woodson
Yost
Brady... I think overused as well but the old lady likes that one
Ford
Zoltan
Barwis
Girl Dog:
Schemmy
Hailiegh Victoria
Any thoughts?

Zoltan the Space Emperor of Space for a boy, IMO.
Idk about a girl name though.

You, sir, just turned my shitty day into another day with that clever-ass comment. Chewlace... comical!

Sparty: For the one poor little guy you can't can't train to stop running into things, peeing on the carpet, pooping behind the couch and biting the mailman.
Victor and Valiant both work for male dogs. My Siberian Husky was Viktor in homage to Michigan and his Russian lineage. Bennie and Biff were the names of our live Wolverines so those are options.

Just got a new Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix puppy that we named Bo. This was a compromise name that worked for myself and my wife who is a Nebraska grad. Of course our other older dog is named Husker.

I would stay away from naming a pet Bo, it's too similar to "No" and will confuse the animal when training. This is unfair to your pet.

That's why you use a different word for "no," even if the dog's name isn't close to the word. That way, the dog doesn't get confused even in normal conversation when people say no. For example, my buddy has a dog and uses the word "ought" because people rarely use that word and he won't get confused.

...Glenn E. Schembechler?
That should eliminate any confusion.

At least that's what I told my wife when we named our son Bo.

You might want to change the wording of your subject... people might start calling you 'Fido.'

The two names I used for my dogs* were Sir Charles and Schembechler

Here's some good discussion on this topic

I'm a fan of Zoltan, also I like getting the dog before choosing a name. The dog can show its personality and you can pick a name soon afterwards.

"The dog can show its personality and you can pick a name soon afterwards."

<br>That usually works but David Harris really isn't a girls name...

We just got a golden retriever puppy and named her Maizie...however, sometimes I think she misinterprets her name for "Crazy".

Troy Woolfolk (TWoolf) or if you really want to work the "woof" in, Troy Woofloke. Switch the "f" and "l" syllables.

Anyone know where to find a good Michigan dog jersey? I named my dog after Desmond Howard and I've been trying to find a #21 jersey since.

+1 for Maizey for a girl, that's what we named ours. It was going to be Bo if we adopted a boy dog.

Tshimanga Biakabutuka. Comes out very easily as you trying to get your dog's attention.
September 29th, 2010 at 7:11 PM ^
No lie, a friend of mine had a black lab he named "biakabarktuka". He tried and tried to get that damn dog to answer to it, but the only thing it did do was get his dog, neighbors and friends to look at him like he was a tard. Eventually he (and the dog, for that matter) settled for just "Tuka".
Oddly enough, that dog died last year, a week and a half after the tO$U game.

My x-girlfriend's brother was a pitcher for Penn State and named his first daughter Nittany K. I mean is it just mean or that absolutely ridiculous. I mean not the normal girl name as in Kay, but the letter K for strikeout. Dont get me wrong, I love Michigan football and golf, but I am not going to name my son Maize Fore. Sorry just had to vent that, but for a dog anything goes.
