Indiana Hotel Rooms and Tickets

Submitted by goblue7612 on

So our previous plan for accomodations in Bloomington fell through, and looking online almost all hotel rooms in the area are booked. I was going out on a limb and wondering if anyone on the board knew of hotels that were still available and not ridiculously priced, or if anyone had a reservation and is looking to cancel that we could get transferred.

If you do have a reservation that you'd like to cancel, can you send me an email at liawd at umich dot edu.

Also, as a side note, anyone else planning on buying IU student tickets to go to the game? Only 5 bucks and any college id will get you in.

That's what I had read also, but after talking to the IU associate AD of ticketing, she emailed me that they "have no way to police the policy of not selling to the visiting team’s students and therefore as a Michigan student with a valid student ID you are eligible to purchase a $5 ticket for the game on October 2nd". So I am going to assume that means we should be able to get in with a MCard. Thanks for the heads up though.

I bought face value tix from UM a few years back for this game.  Big waste of money.  Found out that fans couldn't get rid of their tickets for $20 before the game, and many were giving away free tickets.  Once in the stadium, we moved from the UM section to about the 30 yard line, 30 rows up without an issue.  It was like being at a high school game.

In my past trips to Indiana I can certain back up what you are saying.  However, I have heard that tickets this year will be much more difficult to come by.  They think the game might be a sell out (which is rare down there). IU is 4-0 and thinks they have a chance to beat Michigan.  Although I am sure tickets won't be much more than face value - I don't think they will be going for that cheap.  I wouldn't worry about getting tickets down there, but just in case have enough money to cover face value +.

See you at the game!

I called the IU Ticket Office and after some schmoozing/flirting with the lady on the other end, she sold me the tickets for $5 and said to simply show my driver's license at the Will Call window. So I learned two things: 1) IU doesn't really care, as long as they get bodies in the stadium, and 2) I still got it!

As for hotels, I have no idea since we're coming back the same day.
