Didn't see this mentioned - UCLA handily over Texas at Austin.

Didn't see the game and don't know the details, but I'm very surprised by this.

....didn't you get the memo??? :P

You can bet that UCLA fans are besides themselves -- in a good way --over the last two games, especially since they really don't have a competent QB and yet they won two games no one thought they'd be able to compete in.

The question now is whether or not UCLA can keep this up during Pac 10 play.

Mack Brown had the best sophomore quarterback in America coming into the season, right? Also, doesn't Mack Brown sign nothing but awesome five star talent? And isn't Will Muschamp, coach in waiting, a defensive coaching genius?

RichRod has to be laughing thinking how it's going to look in AA once Denard wins the Heisman and the defense comes together...

As for Mack Brown...he wasn't much of a coach at North Carolina either.

Seems like a lot of people forget how much derision came his way before Vince Young turned into a monster. Mack Brown's teams were perennial underachievers. Looks like that trend could repeat itself without another great QB. Funny how much a good QB can change perceptions about coaches. Their downfall would be delicious, and that's not just bitterness from our Rose Bowl loss to them, as I've always felt Mack Brown was like a shady used car salesman. Well...maybe a little bitterness.

Mack Brown turned North Carolina into a top 10 team.  That program quickly collapsed after he left.  He then went to downtrodden Texas and built a monster.  I agree that he's not the greatest gameday coach, but he seems good at every other aspect of the job, and that's enough to win the vast majority of the time.  Basically, he's another Lloyd Carr.

but that doesn't dispute the fact that he was known for not being able to win the big games before VY came around and basically single-handedly won him a national championship. He was kind of on the hot seat. Also, that downtrodden Texas program won three straight conference titles shortly before Mack Brown's arrival. The first conference title under Brown: 2005, seven years after his arrival. I'm not saying he sucks, I just believe in truthiness.

Okay, "downtrodden" was a bit much, but your statement is very misleading.  The year before Brown arrived (1997), Texas went 4-7.  The year before that, they won the Big 12, but were 8-5 overall - it was a year when the B12 South absolutely sucked, and they managed to pull a shocker in the B12CG.  Before that, they were in the Southwest Conference, which was terrible.  They "won" the SWC because Texas A&M, then the only national power, was on probation and was excluded from the standings.

Texas just isn't very good this year, period.  I was at the Texas Tech game, and frankly they looked really bad.  They still won, but they got a lot of help from Tech on a couple of crippling penalties and a giftwrapped touchdown on a bad snap early in the game.

This reminds me of Colt McCoy's first season as a full-time starter.  They are loaded with talent, but it'll take a while before they get it together.  My guess is they win 8-9 games in a down year for the Big 12, and make a run for the Big 12 next season.

I have to add something to this one.    Since I have to have my big time college fix and I live in California near Pasadena, my 15yr old son and I have had UCLA season tickets at the Rose Bowl for the last 7 years.     I must say that what everyone was saying last week after UCLA beat down Houston was , "I did not see that one coming".   After today's beat down on Texas, it gets even more confusing.    This was a team that absolutely got beat down at the Rose Bowl by Stanford just a few weeks ago in probably the worst college game I've ever seen in person.     It will be interesting the rest of the season.      Next week UCLA faces Wash State which should not be a problem but who knows.     All I know is my son and I will be wearing our Shoe Lace, Dreadfully fast T Shirts to the game to see what reactions we get.

#6 Nebraska 17-3 over a FCS school that hasn't won a game yet this year, #7 Texas gets drubbed by a UCLA whose only win was against a mostly Keenum less Houston, and #8 Oklahoma barely survives a now 1-3 Cincinnati.

If we dropped after UMass, a very good FCS team,  scored the last 13 points of the game it will be interesting to see what happens to Nebraska after they struggled with a terrible FCS school.
