TomVH: Karlos Williams Update

Submitted by TomVH on

I just wrote an article for U Recruit on Karlos WIlliams, but I withheld some of the Michigan information for here.

I talked to Karlos (6'2, 210 lb. Safety, Ridge High School, Florida) about his commitment to FSU, and how Michigan plays into that. As I've said before, he has stated that if Michigan is having a good season, and he has the time, there's a good chance that he could visit for the Iowa game. It looks like Michigan is doing a lot to help themselves. "[Michigan] is proving that they want to become an elite team again, of course I'm still watching them," he said.

In the beginning of the season Karlos said that he wanted to see Michigan show that they were a good team again. They're doing that in his mind. He hasn't decided if he can get up for a visit or not yet, but it could get interesting soon. A win against MSU would help, IMO, tremendously.

Anyone have insight on DT's being pursued by Michigan? Seems like we have several DEs on the roster and in the recruit trails, but after Martin and Banks are gone we have no DTs except BWC, and he will be a senior.

These guys may be exciting to watch but they will never be taken seriously until they have a pipeline of depth and size in the front seven. Offense scores, defense wins.

Many of these guys who have made verbal commitments to other schools may be giving us a  look but don't want to talk about it. Remember, they are still just Seniors in High School. There are a lot of things happening and by making a verbal, for the most part, people stop hounding you. If you let it be known that you are opening things up again you will get hounded, your facebook will be stalked, and everything you say or do has hidden meaning for a fan somewhere 1500 miles away.

The best thing we can do is just keep winning. We will certainly gain interest from recruits and come February, Rich Rod will pull out his snake oil and get some guys that no one ever gave us a chance with.

Is it funny or ironic that he is waiting to see if Michigan is going to turn it around but he's committed to Florida St.?    Well if this was PS3 last week had to help the Noles were embarrassed on national tv and Denard can't get off my tv.

Welcome to 2010 Karlos FSU sucks as well.

If all else is equal, it's not hard to understand why Karlos Williams would be committed to Florida State.  While both U of M and FSU are trying to turn things around, at least going to FSU would ensure that Williams stayed near his friends and family and lived in good weather.

Thanks for the update Tom!  This is exciting for sure.  Hope Dee commits soon because other top-notch athletes WILL follow.  Stay healty, and compete in every game and these guys are going to be salivating at the chance to start at the Big House day 1.  Karlos's Way!!!

You'd think Michigan-Secondary-Exodus-Oh-Ten would have put a stop to this kind of talk.

Yes, we could potentially have a good future secondary IF a bunch of talented high-school players committed to Michigan AND they pan-out talentwise, AND they stay healthy, AND they are motivated to work hard enough to help the team.

Yes, it's good news, but if anyone should be able to put this in perspective, it's a Michigan fan this season.
