M definitely looked good to current recruits and maybe raised some eyebrows of those considering and maybe turned the radar on for those that have not considered Big Blue YET! think about it, your sitting around after your friday night lights dominations and you look at the offense and say RR would make me a star! if your on 'D' you look and say i like what G Rob is doing but he needs me cuz i am a play maker! ESPN has thier Rise going and we are joining the Rise parade...

If you read the article you'll see that he's advocating a extreme results-based form of rankings.  He mentions that he expects we'll lose at least a couple games, but he thinks that rankings should be based on what teams have actually done, rather than based on pre-season expectations.  I still don't know if that would put us in the top 5, but I support his line of thinking for rankings.

Perhaps I should've phrased it differently, but I read the article and saw "none of the preseason polls had Michigan in the Top 25, much less the top five... blah chart blah bullet points blah... how about we do something novel in the polls and pick out the teams that have done the most after two weeks" and saw it as advocacy for Michigan in the top 5, then I checked the board and saw no one had posted the article yet, and did a search for Doyel in the board in case I missed it, then got nervous thinking I'd be the second or God forbid third person to post it, then said fuck it I'm 8 beers deep and in a celebratory mood so I'm putting this on the board but I better hurry, and in my haste I relied on my Jump To Conclusions Mat. So I apologize for my lack of clarity but I do believe he's saying Michigan is a top 5 team without really saying it.

that guy is fucking nuts.

Special Teams are average, we don't have a kicking game. Or a punting game.

Still don't have a feature RB to take the pressure off of Denard. Shaw isn't cutting it and Smith doesn't look like an everydown back.

Oh, and I didn't even mention or GOD AWFUL GARBAGE defense.

Please don't buy the kool-aid. Our defense sucks cock. From the scheme to some of the players, to the execution...everything. Our defense is NOT good. Period.

if you actually think our sieve of a defense will hold up, by all means go ahead and believe it. It only makes you a moron.

Our defense is NOT good. When we rush 3 we got ZERO pressure on the QB. I don't care who the QB is, if he's got all day to throw he's going to find an open man and gash you.

Our secondary is not a strong point. Jordan Kovacs is extremely slow and he cannot cover. Cam Gordon is a young player who I do believe will be good one day, but he blew tons of coverages and probably just isn't ready to start but has to because of our lack of talent at safety.

I think our BEST bet to stop passing attacks is to put heat on the QB. That means rushing at LEAST 4 on every down and on sending the house on some downs.

We just can't keep rushing 3 and sitting back in giving QB's all-day to throw.

Who, by the way, were lucky not to be 8-4 last year and have played exactly no one this year.  I really hope they aren't holding Stanzi up as their Heisman contender.  I know they have the "Heismanzi" shirt which will be good for washing the car next year.

Drob's numbers are insane for the first two games and can easily be lumped in with the emerging Heisman candidate talk. But, it's a LONG season and odds are Drob will not be able to continue on this torrid pace. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see RR limit his playing time in the next three games and give Devin and Tate more snaps.

is still scary, but two straight exciting wins over ND is more than enough to make this an excellent Saturday night.

Uhm I love D Rob, I still fear an injury and having no qb depth (Gardner True freshmen/Forcier transfer?) and would put him in the Heisman talk as of RIGHT NOW, we just have to see if he can stay in the race but thats not important right now, the W's are.

Is Michigan a top 5 team? No. Not with a suspect secondary like that but I do like the front 7. I would like to see a RB stand out but we might have to wait until next season to see that. None of the backs on Michigan's roster want it right now.

We have to wait and see...I'm getting excited for the  Big Ten season. A 5-0 start heading into the MSU game is looking very possible.

You must not have seen me say "transfer?". I know he hasnt transferred yet but the possibility is still there like many people are believing will eventually happen.

Then there are the rumors that Tate stopped going to class, that I dont believe because if thats the case I dont know if Tate even makes the trip or gets suited cuz thats grounds for not playing.

Take a close look at the chart in Doyel's column.  I'm sure most people remember Touchdown Tim against OSU in '95, but what about Vaughnn's 288 against UCLA in '90?  Crazy...
