UM-42
ND-21
If it's a wet mess...
UM-31
ND-17
Crist spends alot of time running for his life. We have two players with over 100 yards rushing (one of which is Denard).

Brian Kelly is about to make a wet mess in his pants.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:30 AM ^
42-31 Michigan.
Notre Dame can't stop Denard and some early turnovers finish them, although Michigan's secondary struggles late and has us all a bit nervous.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:44 AM ^
I think the game will be a bit lower-scoring than expected. I think both teams will hit some big plays but I do not expect to see either team consistently sustain long drives like UM did against UConn last weekend.
September 11th, 2010 at 3:27 AM ^
Another close call, 28-27 Michigan.
September 11th, 2010 at 3:52 AM ^
September 11th, 2010 at 4:07 AM ^
34-24 Michigan of course!
September 11th, 2010 at 4:32 AM ^
31-24 M; sloppy game.
September 11th, 2010 at 5:12 AM ^
23-20 special teams will step up with a td this week, and alot of people will lose money on the over due to the rain soaked field.
September 11th, 2010 at 5:19 AM ^
35-17 Michigan
September 11th, 2010 at 6:29 AM ^
Denard 38 ND 0
September 11th, 2010 at 9:06 AM ^
So Denard is the kicker now too?!
September 11th, 2010 at 9:24 AM ^
5 touchdowns the coaches show no faith in Gibbons, 2pt conversion made on all but one.
September 11th, 2010 at 6:33 AM ^
...Michigan will supply the thunder and lighting.
28-17 UM.
September 11th, 2010 at 6:34 AM ^
Michigan 41 ND 24......rain or shine
September 11th, 2010 at 6:44 AM ^
In a modern-day, spread era version of the old 10-7 "defensive battles:"
Michigan 24, ND 14.
September 11th, 2010 at 6:50 AM ^
UM reverting to the mean on penalties and turnovers, plus it's a road game at a place where we're 4-8-1.
The QBs for our four victories were seniors Rick Leach, Jim Harbaugh, Todd Collins, and junior Chad Henne. At the time of his winning game against the Irish, Leach had 37 starts under his belt; Harbaugh had 17; Collins had 15; and Henne had 26.
If Denard leads us to a win today with all of one start under his belt, that will be a singular accomplishment in UM football history. I know anything is possible, but that would be bucking a mighty significant historical trend.

I flipped a coin once that came up heads nine times in a row. That didn't change the fact that that 10th flip had a 50:50 chance of being heads or tails. Point is, unless there is indeed some form of divine intervention involved for ND when they play at home, this game will be won or lost because of the quality of the teams and coaches, history be damned.
Michigan wins 42-17.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:18 AM ^
That don't make it a 50-50 coin flip.
I'm interested to see which of your predictions is closer.
I like yours better.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:32 AM ^
Your prediction is a real mood killer. That being said, we are playing a first year coach and a first year starting qb with a rebuilt knee, 3 new OL, and a defense that we happily shredded last year. I think our victory will have as much to do with our new found offensive weapon as NDs ability to implode. We are not playing a well oiled machine today....I would argue they were extremely lucky that Purdue sat on their hands defensively almost the entire game instead of taking the head off a statue with a bumb knee.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:06 AM ^
While I agree that experience on the road at ND has typically been a requirement, road nerves won't have quite the same effect on a running-style QB. I'd expect a passing QB to show nerves with poor throws, but a running QB - not so much.
I DO believe we must have balance to win this game...ND isn't going to let Denard beat them single-handedly. They will surely stack the box. Still think M wins with 220 or so on the ground and 200 passing. Denard gets 120 rushing. M 31, ND 24.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
ND by 10. We generally only beat ND in South Bend once every eight to ten years. Think it will still be high scoring but I'm not convinced the defense can stop all their offensive weapons. I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

Michigan 54 ND 51, can't wait to see it on 'Instant Classics'...
September 11th, 2010 at 8:34 AM ^
Yea, I get tired of that other game thats always on classics line ups when we were on the wrong end of that same score. That wound still hasnt heeled.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:37 AM ^
28-7 Michigan if its wet. If its dry 45-28
September 11th, 2010 at 7:46 AM ^
37-24, dilithium.
September 11th, 2010 at 7:54 AM ^
24-21 Michigan, I'm a homer not a domer...though I'm thinking rain, crappy footing in SB, and wierd things just happen there.
September 11th, 2010 at 8:10 AM ^
28-24 Michigan. I'm heading to South Bend. Go Blue!
September 11th, 2010 at 8:40 AM ^
31-27 Michigan. I only think we win because ND has a couple more turnovers than we do. It will be a tough game on our freshman who haven't ever played on the road.
September 11th, 2010 at 9:16 AM ^
Wolverines 30
Irish 24
September 11th, 2010 at 9:49 AM ^
With a potentially slippery field, a weak kicking game, and a couple over-matched defenses, my expectation on this game was reliant on the assumption that no field goals would be made.
I've got Michigan 35, Notre Dame 28. I'm hoping we win the turnover battle, but am worried about fumbling kick returns. I think Michigan's offense will dictate tempo, and although Notre Dame has the tools to walk the field on us, they will be cold and out of rythym as we have lengthy drives.
September 11th, 2010 at 9:49 AM ^
34-27, Michigan.
Plus, Tate sighting.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
Going America all over their asses.

I really think it's going to be the first 30. That being said, I like the Wolverines 31-28.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
Oh, wait, you posted this YESTERDAY. Gotcha. (Actually, looking at the time you posted it...it was today...but I digress...).
I root with my heart, but pick with my head.
ND 27 Michigan 20. Rain and weather help keep the score down, and whenever anyone picks a shootout (see: last week), the score usually is lower than expected.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:27 AM ^
Michigan wins. Head says slight advantage to UM is RR's had 2 years and this is Kelly's 2nd game. Good game; will tell us a lot about both teams.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:28 AM ^
ND 31
UM 24
September 11th, 2010 at 10:47 AM ^
The last three ND coaches won their debut against Michigan. I didn't look up Holtz, I'm lazy and went with what I remember. Plus, a lot of wierd crap happens in South Bend. Heart says 35-27 Michigan. Head says 28-24 ND.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:57 AM ^
47-21
September 11th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
But on the road, I'm not sure. It will be close, and probably in the mid-20's. I'm nervous.
Michigan: 27
Notre Dame: 24

UM - 38
ND - less than 38
September 11th, 2010 at 11:31 AM ^
Michigan wins by ten, the weather will help keep the passing numbers down, and are Lb can focus more on the run. Are Oline will dominate again, leaving us with plenty of rushing room!
GO BLUE!!

Michigan and Dilithium rolls.
September 11th, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
This is just a reminder for no one to flip out when Denard throws an INT today. I know he looked invincible last week, but the realitly is, he'll probably throw at least one against ND.
I don't want to see people posting shit like "see, I told you guys he can't pass" or I'll find out where you live and come urinate inside your mailbox.
All QBs throw INTs. As long as the offensive production outweighs the mistakes at the end of the day, it isn't any big deal.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
ARTDS.....its highly unlikely that DR can match the numbers he put up last week. He will eventually fumble and throw a pick or 2. But the good with him still out-weighs the bad by a mile.
My heart says Michigan 35-ND 20. My brain says ND 27-Mich. 20.
Just seems like the home field gets ND over the hump.
Damn i hope we win.

I really hate to brag too much but it looks like I called it right at around 8:10 yesterday morning. I must have been channeling the ghost of Fielding Yost himself when I made that prediction. What a great trip to South Bend -- the game had a little of everything and even though I've been going to games for well over thirty years I've never seen a player like Denard. We are in for a treat watching this young man over the next few years.
