I just heard the play-by-play guy say "see you won't ever see michigan line up in an I-formation and power it inside....you won't see that tomorrow against notre dame"
we did this several times. and it was only 6 days ago
September 10th, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
My dear sweet mother, who repeatedly called Denard "Tate" last week, knew better than that.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
Yep, I threw something at the TV! Typical ESPN announcers GRRRRR
September 10th, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
Heard this too.
What a stupid comment.
RR had a killer FB at WVU in Owen Schmitt, and I'm sure they lined up in I-Form then as well.
Plus like you said, Michigan lined up this way several times last week. With the interior of our Oline hopefully being the strength of the offense, I think this is something that will come in handy to have throughout the season. Especially against inferior opponents that we can out muscle.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
Haha yeah I heard that to and I was going to say it's a bit of a joke of how ignorant people are about knowing what they are talking about. And that stop Marshall just had on 4th and 1 just made them look like fools for going I-Form.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
I really wish they'd stop with all the anti-Michigan crap. I used to like WVU - they're a natural underdog.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
They started the season running back to back plays out of the I.
jeebus, gilmore. nice stanford education.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:35 PM ^
Obviously they didn't watch the drive @ Iowa last year where we went I all the way down the field until Minor fumbled.
Ugh, I don't mind that those people are morons. I mind that recruits and other folks will hear the morons and mimic their sentiment.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
Go Coogs in the late game. Hell, by the time I get into Houston (4 hour drive), I could probably get to Robertson by the 2nd quarter.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:22 PM ^
What do you think, should I lay the -20 with Houston?
Bite at all on the O/U 75?
Please advice
September 10th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
I'm going with a tiny bet on the under, half because its gone from 72 to 75.5 this week and half because i have a fridge full of beer and nothing else to do
September 10th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
lol, i'd like to say I've never done that routine, except I have beers in the fridge, nothing to do and I just took WVA -7.5 on the second half line.
75 seems sooooooo high a total. I'll be pulling for the Under to hit for you!
September 10th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
Really just trying to help pass the time. Noon tomorrow cannot get here soon enough.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:47 PM ^
Marshall's defense is looking very suspect. More specifically, the secondary looks abysmal. I wonder if maybe, just maybe, that same secondary wasn't any better last weekend?
September 10th, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
Marshall stops WVU on 4th and 1 within the 10. huge stop
September 10th, 2010 at 7:54 PM ^
Woah nelly.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
before he crossed into the endzone... it is very close.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
I wasn't sure at first, but I replayed it on my DVR and the receiver let the football go at the one yard line before he scored. Should be a touchback and WVU ball
September 10th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
Anyone know if the video will hit the internets tonight or if I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
I just need to know if I should keep refreshing the page for updates every five minutes for the rest of the night or not.

September 10th, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^
Nick it's Friday night how come you're not out pickin' up chicks? :-P
September 10th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
is just slamming WVU now. Weak Mountaineer punt means Marshall might score again
September 10th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
That blank look on Bill Stewart's face suggests things are going to get real interesting as the last of RR's players walk out the door.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
In case Marshall makes this stand up, they'll be doing crazy business all night. Coach Stew will be the second most-hated man in West Virginia.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:11 PM ^
I don't know man, Marshall's defense is looking good, but that offense is looking terrible. Stewart might be able to make it through the night without starting a 5 alarm couch fire in Morgantown.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
or is WVU offensive line really struggling with the stunts?
September 10th, 2010 at 8:15 PM ^
but the tackles in particular are really struggling
September 10th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
WVU needs to get it together. I don't like the thought of a team that OSU demolished beating a top 25 team on the road.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:15 PM ^
Don't read too much into this in terms of the greater scheme of things. The Marshall headcoach (Doc Holliday) was just hired away from WVU where he was the assoc head coach. So basically he helped write the WVU playbook and has an inside advantage here. For all we know he taught the defense to ready WVU's snap count and play calls.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:17 PM ^
That's a good point. (I also just noticed that Marshall is at home - duh.)
September 10th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
September 10th, 2010 at 9:32 PM ^
Wow - I almost don't want to post again. I want to savor this milestone.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:18 PM ^
WVU put up 110 yards through the air in the first quarter alone. I think Marshall has a terrible secondary, but a D-Line that is playing inspired. I'm not sure if we can take anything from this yet, other than the possibility that both defenses are probably not that good.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
Marshall's D-Line is also insanely aggressive tonight. the WVU O-Coord needs to calm his team down and start using screens and such to exploit that. I think a big part of this is that current WVU isn't that mobile and he appears rattled. WVU needs to start setting up a checkdown he can reliably hit when he feels pressure.
I feel like WVU's offense is going to crack Marshall's defense before Marshall's offense figures out how to crack WVU's D.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
Agreed. I'd love Marshall to win this game, but I have a bad feeling about WVU's experience. HOWEVA (totally unnecessary, I know), I think that Doc Holliday is a good coach and will pull something out of his hat.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:23 PM ^
It was a preseason ranking. We all knew Bill Stewart was a horrible hire and the WVU program would continue to deteriorate.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
Agreed. It's clear that Stewart just has an old photocopy of the RR playbook and he's calling stuff out of that, with no really innovation of his own. As the years march by and RR recruitment classes move on, WVU has dropped from a Top 10 team to a Top 25 team. When Devine heads off to the NFL, WVU likely heads for 6-6 and being the fourth best team in the Big East (with Pitt, UConn and Cincy ahead of them).
September 10th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
September 10th, 2010 at 8:14 PM ^
aren't doing too good. Marshall was able to get pressure on the QB. Marshall was terrible against OSU and looked like a compentent team against WVU.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^

September 10th, 2010 at 8:21 PM ^
And yet another stadium uses "Hell's Bells" (at least the gong at the beginning) before a third down. Is there a stadium PA playlist convention that these guys all go to?
September 10th, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
The playlist is determined annually at the NASPAA conference. There are very few spots that open up and it really requires something spectacular (See "Let's Get it Started" (2004)) to get a spot on the list. Unfortunately, success can be short-lived (See "Let's Get it Started" (2005)).
September 10th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
I like it when someone asks a question to be funny, then they get the technical answer. I thought the NASPAA link was a joke.... nope.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
I too share your astonishment.... they need an association?
September 10th, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
I like that there's an online course.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
Said that Notre Dame would win because, since Michigan went to a 3-3-5, we would have to have the cornerbacks cover ND receivers man to man. Did he watch any of the UConn game? Is there any reason that a 3-3-5 equals man to man?
September 10th, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
Fans are already melting down on WVU message boards. Somebody is burning some couches tonight
September 10th, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
Damn, all of that motivation for WVU and blam, a fumble.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:51 PM ^
wow, if Marshal gets smoked by OSU and they are looking like the big brother next to WV, how bad does Bill Stewart and Co. lose to OSU? My powers of deduction... 100-0, or something like that. Big East is AWESOME.
