Antonio Kinard

If he can prove he's got himself set up to qualify, I hope we take him. However, if he can't, I hope he doesn't take up a spot again he can't use.

The article about the new coach at Hargrave states that Kinard is a Michigan Signee. I hope he shows the same traits his new coach is raving about and he is able to qualify, we need LB's.

I really hope we can get him into school. I can never get enough of these raw but athletic DEs and LBs

He's been a commit since August 23rd. Good news I guess.

sense of style. The tie tack really makes the outfit.

assuming they are good kids because they are michigan commits makes an ass out of you and me. this is a general comment and not pointed kinard.

and the other concern is that U of M doesn't have a good track record with kids coming from prep schools. The biggest issue will be if he has matured academically enough to survive U of M. God knows he'll definitely have the academic help since athletes get an unreal amount of support.

Are you keeping the Vlad profile pic and username? I liked him as a person but he never seemed to be himself after his high school injury. I wish him well in life but hopefully HaHa, LaQuentin Smith, Avery Walls, or all of them will take his spot(s). I know its going to be tough to pull HaHa away from the defending champs, but if anybody can, its the University of Michigan and its strong Dr. Phillips connection.

A "dumbshirt" year is just what it is. Kinard is hopefully getting his act together, getting phyisically stronger, and mentally as well. Well enough to pass the pretty basic requirements to be a D1 athlete. I try to get less dumb every year. So does every intelligent person.

You're making a complete ass of yourself.

Knows how hard it is to get into Michigan and is playing it safe. I wouldn't considered him a Michigan commit until he's past the clearinghouse. However, that's just so I don't get my hopes up, I like the kid.

to get into Michigan if you play football. It might be harder to STAY at Michigan, but AFAIK, the entry requirements are no tougher at Michigan than any other Big10 school. You just have to be cleared by the NCAA. (And don't bring up Dorsey, he didn't get into Louisville either.)

Assuming this year at prep school does the trick for Kinard and he's able to come to Michigan next year, would he lose a year of eligibility?
September 9th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
No, he will be attending prep school from now until January, then enrolling at Michigan. At least we hope so. We need linebackers.

Your five-year window of eligibility doesn't start until you attend your first college class. That's how guys like Chris Weinke were able to play years after they originally signed their LOI.
