Yeah, but it's college football.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:05 AM ^
The last few years they have been getting worse and worse. Now they are doing a bit on the quarterback for Texas.......seriously.....let the kid play and then tell us how great he is. Instead they are going to tell us how great he is and hope to hell he lives up to their hype.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:07 AM ^
...absolutely pathetic and unwatchable.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:53 AM ^
Obviously people have their own taste and that's completely fine. But despite the fact that there are several problems with the show now: 1- Erin Andrews contractually forced shoehorning into greater show presence, 2- Sadly, Lee Corso's increasing inability to present coherent thoughts, and in a minor way for me, some of the critiques others have, this morning all I could think of was I can't wait for College Gameday to come on. If I wasn't home right now I'd be taping it. IMO Chris Fowler is probably the best college football media guy on TV, so I'm still a fan.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
...now, not so much; this is the problem.
You can't make anecdotal analysis of every game watchable.
September 4th, 2010 at 12:05 PM ^
Versus human interest stories and all that. It's gotten to be like the Olympics. I would assume that consumers of deep football analysis would seek it in niche media, i.e. on sites like this, more than on a mass-market TV show.
September 4th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
The focus is more on the "truth and rumors side" (sorry SI) of the game. Did anyone hear Corso say how Brian Kelly reminds him of Ara Parseghian? Really Lee? Kelly hasn't even coached one game at for the Irish and already you're putting him in the same category as one of the greatest Irish coaches....ever? That comment is a microcosim of what College Gameday is.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:08 AM ^
I'm having the equivalent of a nicotine fit for college football, but I just can't turn on Gameday.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:08 AM ^
As long as they end up running a story on Brock soon, it'll be worth it. I'm a bit tired of all this Texas/Florida/Bama drool though
September 4th, 2010 at 11:09 AM ^
It really is painful... 4 hours 27 minutes... Go Blue!
September 4th, 2010 at 11:09 AM ^
You can win. Its good for that and that my friends is about it. I just got to the golf course and I'm pumped. Everyone have a great day and go Blue!
September 4th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
I'm not sure I've learned anything in the past 70 minutes. How can a two hour show feel so empty?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
Have no problem with Gameday. Best way to get hyped up for the day's games, get a little preview, and Erin Andrews
Good stuff
September 4th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
but it's pretty terrible. It will be hard to look myself in the mirror after watching this garbage.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
I'm guessing that's status quo with that mug?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
there was ESPN College Gameday. It's irrevelant and the worst thing about Saturdays in the fall. As a sidenote, why the hell would I care about watching the Big Ten Network talk about Nebraska...on this Saturday morning? We have 8 months to talk about them.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
It definitely has gotten worse. I used to record it if I couldn't watch it live. Now I would never do that but I still do watch it when I'm home.
What I want to know is, did anyone watch the first hour at 9 am on ESPNU? I didn't because I didn't think I got ESPNU with Charter Basic, but I flipped to 302 during the last commercial and apparently I do have the channel. Was it anything other than watching Erin Andrews for an hour?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
Fuck this Meyer story
September 4th, 2010 at 11:15 AM ^
I agree it has gone down hill a bit but I still absolutely love it. There is just something about waking up and watching Gameday on a Saturday morning to get ready for a day full of the best sport on earth.
On a side note Urban Meyer is a fraud and I hate him!
September 4th, 2010 at 11:16 AM ^
It should be a little more watchable once we start winning again. WTKA is streaming countdown to kick off, thats what I'm doing to pass the time. Go Blue!
September 4th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
were much much better.
2 hours is just too much time, that ends up being filled with fluff.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^
When it was an hour, I paid attention to the whole thing.
Now, there is so much filler that I walk away from segments. I often forget to come back . . . "damn, I missed the rest of game day. Oh well whatever".
September 4th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
How many times can they show Alabama and Florida. Wow, I just saw a Mich sign. Go Blue.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
This whiparound thing is alright. Better than gameday, at least they don't keep going back to Meyer and Saban
September 4th, 2010 at 11:19 AM ^
Thanks, going to DVR the rest and wait for Brock. Same old story lines on ESPN.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:22 AM ^
Yup, and they're going to AA now
September 4th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
Thanks, I tuned in just in time.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
I always set the DVR and don't start watching GameDay until about an hour into it. Then I skip all the crap and always catch up to real time before the show is over!
September 4th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
Just be glad you have ESPN in the first place. Count your blessings.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
Wait so what is the deal with Masoli? Fowler got me all confused. I think he was just wrong.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:27 AM ^
Masoli is eligible this year. Not sure if he will play this week.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:26 AM ^
Robert Smith and the CFB crew on Sportscenter (ESPN2) just did a UM v UConn preview highlighting the potential matchup of the UConn running back against Obi Ezeh.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:30 AM ^
That ND piece was depressing.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:39 AM ^
Depressing? Only if you're a ND fan imo. I found it to be rich with tasty, tasty schadenfreude....
September 4th, 2010 at 11:47 AM ^
The ND piece was great. "Frustration Jesus hear my prayers". Best Gameday line ever.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:30 AM ^
That Notre Dame story just made me throw up a little. I guess this means I have more room for hot dogs today! WOOOOOOOOOOO
September 4th, 2010 at 11:32 AM ^
are good others are terrible. I was able to watch the first hour, had to turn it off during the Urban Meyer puff piece.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:33 AM ^
They're talking about the UM UConn game now
Turn it on
September 4th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
Finally they talk Michigan-UConn. WTF? Who here wants Edsall? Anyone? According to Fowler, "Edsall is high on the wishlist of Michigan fans should RichRod fail"
September 4th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
My thoughts exactly. When has he ever been in talks or on our list of favorites for this job?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
RR on now! Same old questions, same ol answers
September 4th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Herbstreit appears to be picking Uconn
Fuck you boss
September 4th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
I migjt end up watching that school in East Lansing's game if this keeps up
September 4th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Corso takes our side. Yay? "Michigan wins because they can stop the run now"
September 4th, 2010 at 11:38 AM ^
Corso took Michigan because Herbie chose UCONN and he wanted to say Not So Fast My Friend
September 4th, 2010 at 11:40 AM ^
Corso seriously anymore, or rather in about 6 years
September 4th, 2010 at 11:43 AM ^
So assuming this LSU-UNC segment takes five or so minutes, it looks like they won't be running a Brock segment. But I'm sure most Americans prefer watching segments on Bama struggling with motivation following a championship than an inspirational story of a man who never gave up and overcame the 1% chance he walks again.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:47 AM ^
I have missed some ESPN Gamedays. Have they ever done a story on Brock? That's a story that they usually do. At least in the NYC area, the game is on ABC and no game before that, so maybe they will have some of the pre-game on.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:50 AM ^
They did a story on Outside the Lines, but that was a while ago and before RichRod challenged Brock to lead the team out.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
Well, it is an amazing story and I love it. The problem is that it's not about a player or even a recruit. I'm not too surprised that they didn't show anything about it. Hopefully it will get more air time on ABC and the actual game broadcast.
