the kid has to have confidence in his own abilities, he can go in and think well, im not as highly recruited as some of the players in my own class and since this guy is a year or two older than me i'll never be as good as him while he's here.  At florida he has a chance to compete for a national championship every year.  how many florida players were drafted this year?  it doesnt sound like a bad decision to me.  and if he doesn't play or get drafted UF is still a perennial top 50 school

While the position of CB is not good right now, why would any player look at our depth chart and say yeah that looks good?   We have a Redshirt Sophmore and 3 true freshmen on the 3 deep and 2 cb's committed for next year.

Just because a position group is weak 1 year does not mean freshmen are looking at immediate playing time.  We have like 20 safeties running around and people keep noting early playing time for that group as well next year.

There are no positions left on Michigan's roster open for early playing time just by showing up like we had the last 2 years.   I'm not saying a true frosh can't come in and  play, but to get any significant time next year they will have to be very special.

When looking for early playing time look for teams that are loaded with Seniors not a team playing soph and frosh's

Fitzgerald, Demens, Jones, Bell, Ryan.  they may not be the 76 Steelers but by next year you'll have 2 guys that have been  training here for 4 years with 3 other young guys that have the jump on you, if you want play as a freshmen you still will have to be very very good.

Not one of those guys has (so far in his career) even played a game at a high level. Moundros leapfrogging them shows that even with another year of experience they haven't yet. There is nothing here that would scare off any excellent HS LB--yet. Let's hope that changes.

After our redshirt sophomore goes pro against advice, one of the freshmen transfer, and a lightning bolt hits the other in the nuts, there'll be plenty of playing time for him. He'll just have to watch out for dark clouds.

Yeah I forgot we had to account for half of them not making it back.   It's like our secondary is storming Normandy. Good call.

Just a reminder to everyone as they melt down  over this "loss" we only have space for 20 or so guys we can't get put the full court press on everyone 24/7.  If they had a crystal ball and knew Turner wouldn't pan out and Showers would go from a nobody to stud with his blazing times, may be they would have taken a different approach, but you can't account for everything.

True, and based on the number of OT's we have on the roster (who won't be true frosh) I'm certain they will.

Also - I just looked at the other DB's that UF picked over over 2010 and 2011, and Showers will never see the field.  He might win a national title, but he won't play on defense.

Really?  I'm no recruiting expert, but based on what I've read here I was pretty sure Showers wasn't going to pick Michigan.  I mean, when Michigan is "in" on a kid, there's usually chatter on this board about unofficial and official visits, several TomVH interviews, detailed information in the weekly recruiting updates, etc.  There was very little of that with Showers, especially compared to guys like Dee Hart, Brennan Beyer, and Anthony Zettel--guys Michigan really seems to be interested in.

We slow played this kid, plain and simple, and we paid for it.  Woolfolk redshirting and coming back next year should help soften the blow a little.  Landing Crawford and Walls has become much, much more important.
