It's not that simple.  Yes, he only has 1/12 of the vote.  If it comes down to a final vote, his is but one.

But, it is more likely that the 12 ADs will work together to craft divisions.  if the ADs of Michigan and OSU do not advocate that the game be kept at the end of the season, then nobody will.  Why would Purdue's AD give a damn where this game falls?  We need Brandon, as a representative of one of the conference superpowers, and as OUR representative, to advocate as strongly as possible that The Game be kept where it is.

You gotta think beyond the direct vote he's entitled to. Part of playing politics is acquiring support from otherwise adverse sources. "You scratch my back, I scratch yours" sort of thing. I am sure Dave Brandon's Pimp Hand is capable of a few MGoReachArounds to garner votes in favor of his agenda. Just sayin'

None of us know how this went down, but we must remember our place. We, the fans, alumni, students, and boosters are the ultimate source of revenue. Everything else is speculation and arbitrage. Consumers forking over their hard-earned dollars are the only tangible source of cash flows for the schools and the B10. Even the advertisers on the BTN do so because they believe the ads will boost sales.

We are the power, so maybe the outcry will make a difference.... then again, probably not. I'm sure their market analysts have already accounted for the weirdos of MGoBlog.

In theory, he's one voice out of 12.  In reality, he carries more weight because Michigan (along with OSU, PSU and Nebraska) is one of the marquee programs and that game is the marquee game in the conference.  If the participants in the game have an issue, it will resonate strongly.

That assumes that they, too, will win their division.  Most years, the two teams realistically won't meet up then.

Besides, UM-OSU is a great game no matter what the records are.  We didn't win the Big Ten in 1995, for instance, but I'll cherish the memory of that game forever.   Having that game at the end of the year is such a huge part of our tradition.  This would be a devastating move.

I agree that it likely will not have an affect, but if we are all going to just pitch about it and respond to the post on the main page pulling out our hair over this, we should at least try something productive.

Thanks for signing.

Brandon may only have 12th the vote, but at least let him be one "nay" out of 12.  Right now, the idiot is actually supporting the move, and as a Michigan fan, that's infuriating.

You think maybe he is a "nay", but the powers that be in the Big 10 want UM/OSU earlier in the year, therefore it's a done deal, and DB is just throwing out the trial balloons to the fanbase. Calling DB an idiot is one of the stupidest things that I have heard, he isn't here to serve you, he's here to serve the University of Michigan and its athletic department and what's best for them.

I think the petition needs to be a joint effort with tOSU fans.  Strange bedfellows, eh?  I think the joint sponsorship would underscore the severity of the situation.

"This game has a tremendous meaning for us fans of the greatest rivalry in sports.

Being played on the third Saturday in November, and at the end of the season every year gives it a sense of holiday. A day that I look forward to as the outcome usually decides the champion of our conference. I ask you that you do not change a thing.

Always remember that we are "Leaders and Best," and a charter member of this conference. We dictate, we do not follow.

Look at what happened to the rivalry with Nebraska and OU. Please leave this as it is."

that was it. I might have too much passion for this team, but I'd rather lose to appy st than have this become irrelevant.

I think readers of this blog will agree that it is OK to move The Game anywhere in the season, as long as a few important criteria are met:

1) It is played at night

2) The Wolverines wear the brand-new Maize jerseys for The Game only!

I've already sent these suggestions to DB so you can start thanking me now.

sometimes change is good and humans by nature are opposed to change as a general rule. In this case, nothing needs to be changed.

I can see some of the other side's points, but it all comes down to tradition, and the fact that us in separate divisions with a guaranteed game againstt eachother will make each of our schedules inherently tougher than the other 10 teams in the conference.

That just isn't right.

I signed it.

I say you keep posting this to try and get more signatures.  Post it on the OSU blog too.  If you can get it over 1,000 signed, send out a press release to the Detroit News (maybe even Freep).  I guarantee they would pick something like this up:

Headline: "Over 1,000 sign petition to keep M-OSU at End of Season" - That would draw some attention.

This is nice, but I think emails to Brandon and Gene Smith (OSU's AD) plus whomever else you can reach at the league office will make more of an impact.

Write. Let your voice be heard. NOW is not the time to stand back. If you can do it for water bottles, do it for HISTORY.

But on the other hand, as many different methods to get attention as possible are good.
