Rivals Pre-Season All-American Teams

Submitted by WanderingWolve on

Rivals just posted their Pre-Season All-American teams.  I, for one, am very excited to see Justin Boren on the first team and Ryan Mallett on the third (:/ sarcasm).  Well I hope they enjoy their current colleges more than they enjoyed their time at Michigan.

EDIT: Because most missed it, I was being sarcastic.

I have no animosity towards Mallett even though he had attitude issues at Michigan. I actually expect him to have an incredible year and press for that First Team spot.

As for boren, I want the worst for him and hope he fails miserably.

3 first team players, damn.

Also, maybe my sarcasm meter is being whacky, but it's picking up some vibes from the OP

Either way, I mean, come on guys, Boren has short arms, give him a break

After my first reaction of "Boren can die" and "someone call 911 the OP must have stroked out while typing"..  I decided to go look at the teams.

I find it interested (and I hate that I do this because I spend too much time defending the program from the monumentally ignorant) that the OLs and DLs on these lists contain kids that are very similar in size on average to the kids that play for the undersize UM squad.   Almost half (7) of the 15 OLs listed are 300 lbs or less. 3 more are 305-310 and then the last five including Mr. Plow are 315+.  Our OL by comparison goes 285-321 (If PD starts) We have almost the exact same ratio in our 2 deep as the first thru third teams on the List.

On D, they have 10 Ends and Tackles listed. The weights range from 263 to 311.  & are 295 or less.  Our DL will go 299 283 285 and that is with one tackle and 2 ends. With 290 and 333 DTs ready on the bench.

I am just at a loss when people start with their "UM is going to get pushed around" and "RR's O with it's small linemen will not fly in the B10".

sorry for the short rant...  done now, feel much better.

Don't really like their selection of QBs.  Mallett is a decent choice, and while I do think Moore is underrated and doesn't get enough publicity, I don't like the selection of Keenum at all (put me in the group that thinks he's a system quarterback), particularly at First Team.  I can think of at least 3 Pac-10 QBs or McElroy or Tyrod Taylor I think are better.

I'd probably put Ponder and even Pryor before Keenum as well.
