Possible Big10-Pac10 kickoff game @ Rose Bowl
I vote for a triple-header at the Rose Bowl. Oh man, that would be epic.
This would be great and I hope Michigan takes up the offer as often as possible. Time for a big-time out of conference game. Playing USC week one would be awesome.
I want a chance to play Oregon again so we can use the spread to beat the crap out of them and for taking our Nike jersys away from us...
Oregon (or Nike in general) didn't "take their jersys [sic] away from us." Adidas drove up to the Big House with a dump truck full of money and promised us "Most Favored Nation" status, and business-savvy Bill Martin wisely accepted.
From what I've seen of Nike's jerseys across the country lately... like say Oregon's... I'm glad they took them away.
More great exposure for recruits in Cali. Now that we have Florida, play a game in Cali and Texas every other year. Maybe at Jerry World or Reliant. Kellen's family and friends can see him play.
While living out in Southern California years ago I watched Michigan beat UCLA in the Rose Bowl. Great game, I forget which year it was somewhere between 86-90. Michigan came from behind late with two onsides kicks (If I remember right) it was great.
EDIT: It was the 2nd game of the 1989 season, Michigan won 24-23 in the closing seconds of the game. Michigan was ranked #5 UCLA #24 at the time.

preferably in late December at the Big House. I'd love to see USC on the frozen tundra of Michigan Stadium. Or whatever frozen Field Turf is called.
If that were going to happen (and it should), they'd probably play in Michigan early and SoCal late. People are just big pussies about the weather, unfortunately.
That's why if we do schedule a home and home we should try to get them to come here in the cold. It's a home field advantage. I don't understand why ND doesnt get USC to go to south bend when it's under 50 degrees out... they're just not used to it and it can do NOTHING but help the home/cold weather team.
I have 2 big instances that remind me of home field advantage (I'm a bears fan, bear with me, no pun intended)
1: NFC Championship 2006 - Bears went to the Superbowl, it was awesome. We had the NO Saints in Chicago, in January. Reggie bush was still all the rage, and NO was a dome team. A dome team. In Chicago. In January. If you're not familiar, soldier field is actually between Lake Shore Drive and the Lake itself, it's cold and windy. Needless to say, the bears won, and never-played-in-the-cold-before Reggie Bush got shut down by Urlacher
(Never said Bears fans could spell on the first chance)
2. Same year, MNF, Bears Falcons. I knew we were going to win before Kickoff. The commentators kept talking about the miserable conditions. Vick looked like he'd rather be anywhere except on the sidelines in a Parka. Then the Bears Defense came running out on the field still with their rule - No Sleeves. We won.
Let's see Kiffin on the sidelines of Michigan Stadium in November... let the weather help us for a change

This is a bullshit proposal (if they don't return the favor). The Pac-10 already has a huge advantage with the Rose Bowl being in their own backyard every year.
Yeah some may disagree that it's a big advantage, but come on, you don't think Bo would've had a much better Rose Bowl record if we played it in Michigan, Ohio, etc.?

I was thinking the exact same thing, right down to Lambeau. And Gerald R. Ford has a great point that going there on a regular basis would take away some of the mystique. The Pac 10 has always had a huge advantage playing in the Rose Bowl.
Since we're talking about games in early September, why not involve as many teams as we can? A Big Ten - Pac (12) challenge in the second week of the season? Every team participates at least every other year. And not just at Lambeau, but at Soldier Field, at Cleveland Browns Stadium, at Ford Field, etc. So they'd need more stadia than just the Rose Bowl...

They've been looking for a way to get back to the Rose Bowl. I guess this is as good an opportunity as any. I'd throw Indiana and Minnesota in there as well, but I don't hate them as much.

at $8,000,000 per home game, i don't see Michigan heading out of town for any non-conference games any time in the near future. this number is before bringing in water bottles was outlawed, so it can only go up.

It's like anything else, the more you do it, the more normal it seems. If we played a PAC10 away game every year, then by the time a senior class came around, they will have been there multiple times. This would help to remove the novelty of these road-trip games through familiarity. All of us can remember the many games we should have won, but seemed not to show up with an attitude that we could. Although USC and Oregon are possible teams to schedule, the rest of the field would be open too - UCLA, Washington State, etc...

let's face it. The Big House is the Rose Bowl. It's just too far east.
I'm all for this idea. I do however agree that the warm weather schools should have to come play in the cold weather. All of our bowl games are away games. Some other teams get lucky, like Florida in the Capital One Bowl in 07'. Or USC or UCLA in the Rose Bowl.
guys get tired of all the gurus who say that this kid and that kid prefers to play in warm weather opposed to cold. I was always taught real men play in any weather. That is why I have healthy respect for professional teams that play outdoors in the cold with no domes. You are not a football player if you cannot waether the cold.Personally I think this would be a great idea to have home and homes with schools far west and have them return the favor. What it would do for the conference would be signicant as far as recruiting goes and definately enhance other lesser known teams profiles. It would be geat way to get Big Blue back on track with the title of Champions of the West. So why not go out west and thump every last Pac 10 err 12 school they have and get the respect that we so rightfully deserve. Lets Go Blue
