Quinta Funderburk
I haven't seen a lot of discussion about him on this board... but he's a four star/number six WR on scout, and a 5.8/ number 23 WR on rivals, and we're in his top 5. He's a big wide receiver at 6'5, 204... or 6'3, 200.... or 6'2, 205 depending on which recruiting service you trust. He broke down his top 5 with Sam Webb, and there's a rivals article on his top schools too. If you listen to Sam Webb on the recruiting roundup, he mentions the possibility of him being the second outside WR in our class often. I know people on the board are pretty high on Jordan and Watkins, but I think he'd be a great addition to this class. Film.
Great name, or greatest name?
That last name just seems like its one small slip-up from getting an announcer in trouble with the FCC.
And the first name is one small slip-up from getting the announcer in trouble with the NAACP.
a NOTY candidate.
Hmm, surprising not to see Alabama on there. Lot of speculation earlier that Funderburk wanted to follow Philip Sims out there. It'd be a great pickup, Funderburk's school is a top-ten or top-five football program nationally.
That's something else that varies... ESPN says it's Funderburke, Scout and Rivals disagree..
Getting his height/weight wrong is one thing, but his name...?
Exhibit A: The 8 month ordeal on Scout and Rivals that differed on the spelling of "Cornelius" or "Conelius" Jones.
Qunitaessential bad journalism.
Pretty sure it's without the E. Early in the recruiting season it was spelled with the E wherever you looked, and it slowly changed as time went on.
I looked at the thread title really quickly and thought his name was Quinton Thunderfunk. And yet his actual name is only marginally less awesome........................
Plus, Quinton Thunderfunk is only marginally different from Quintuple Thunderfuck. The Quintuple Thunderfuck is a dangerous, yet rewarding, maneuver which can only be pulled off by the most limber of individuals.
From what I understand, he's pretty interested in Michigan, but the coaches aren't pursuing him that hard just yet. That could change. It looks like they want AJ Jordan (Trotwood, OH) to be the second receiver.
Ya never know though.
Wow, this is a big kid. However, I like AJ Jordan for how he mixes with the rest of our receivers. Last year, 3 of our 4 receivers were big guys who weren't exactly burners. Our only burner was a guy no other program wanted (Williamson) so I'm not going to rely on him a whole lot. The one receiver in this class is similar, fast enough, but more of a big target than a speedster deep threat. A guy like AJ Jordan would be a better complement, but Thunderdome would be a great pick-up if he wanted us.
I would still love to get Crawford and Watkins back on a official visit and try to get a package deal from them. This is still great news about Funderburke.
