OT: Things to do in Cheyenne, WY
My brother and I are going to be in Cheyenne Wyoming for the day tomorrow with nothing to do. Anyone on here have any ideas/suggestions? Neither of us has been there before, and we're looking to kill time. I don't think we're planning on doing anything super active (hiking, etc.) unless there's something we really need to see.
Also, don't forget the bobblethon!
take pictures please and post.
If this happens it will be documented and posted. I'll be on the lookout for an opportunity.
Sorry "david form wyoming" I had to.
Spend an entire day on mgoblog?
Winner!
Trip balls and hike a while. Find your soul animal.

I'm sure that's exactly what they want to do...key word there being "hiking"
I'm not opposed to hiking as long as I'm tripping balls.
Throw in some mushroom tea for good measure and play some cards. Hearts, anyone?
If you do it like I do it you won't even know you're hiking. "Hike" that's a funny word.
happens to be a bear, wrestle that thing Zangief style.
thread has gone
There has to be a rodeo going on every weekend of the year, right? I mean, George Strait wrote songs about that kind of stuff; it has to be true.
Nevermind, the "big one" starts July 23rd.
By 'big one' you mean the worlds largest rodeo.
Everyone claims that, though. Cheyenne, Houston, National High School Rodeo, etc. I've been to Houston's, it's pretty big. I think they claim biggest by attendance. I think NHSR claims it by participants. Chenyenne's is by acerage. I'm not entirely sure about that though.
Go hunting with Dick Cheney
i used to go to a dude ranch with my family north of Jackson Hole. We couldn't ride one afternoon becuase he came with a bunch of family and secret service. It was kind of cool see the SUV and H2 caravan roll in, but also kind of frustrating that we couldn't ride.
Was it Triangle X?
Yes. Have you been there?
It's been a long time, but I have fond memories of the experience. I saw a bald eagle (for the first time) at close range on a Snake River raft trip.
I remember Cheney (a lesser light at the time) being mentioned as a high-profile visitor. Jamie Lee Curtis, too.
Followed by a trip to the Snake river Brewing company - delicious! Try the Zonker the next time you go there.
My friends dad would chit chat at the airport with Harrison Ford, as well, because they both flew small planes out of Jackson.
Spend hours making MS Paint pictures of your favorite Michigan icons?
Cheyenne is actually a pretty cool town. There is an Old West museum and the Nelson Museum of the West. Definitely go to the governor's mansion. The capital is nice and there is a nice statue and monument to the first female governor in the US. The railyard is pretty cool, if you like that sort of thing.
There all kinds of rodeo-related events. I have a friend in Gilette who competes in trials with her Border Collie. If they have something like that going on, DEFINITELY go see it. it's the coolest thing. Just remember not to cheer during the competition.

Was she hot?
That's a negative Ghost Rider. Pattern's full.
Never turn down a chance to get laid. At least she's high class.
Start up a recruiting effort there. Cause there's a ton of great players that come from Wyoming.
/sarcasm
Born in California. Very important fact.
Yeah, but he played high school ball in Wyoming.
My favorite Manhatten diner, which used to be in SoHo, has moved there.

It's the diner where Mary Jane worked in Spider Man, where that upside-down spidey-kiss was shot. Yes, it's now it Wyoming.
I still have a menu from that diner from its last day in New York. So sad.
Going to climb Gannett Peak.
Good thing I've got that, because Pinedale looks like a happening place. LoL
Enjoy Cheyenne!
I will see how far Pinedale is from LaBarge. Thanks for the info.
Good luck on Gannett. I have heard its a hell of a climb and am looking forward to getting up the the Wind River Range. I should be summiting Quandary (Tenmile Range, CO) by this time Saturday. Have fun!
If you are going to laugh about my state, feel free to not visit.

About 45 minutes west of Cheyenne, on I-80, there is some awesome hiking at vedeuwoo. The area is a mecca for rock climbing, cross country skiing and mounting biking, but the hiking is really really easy and simply beautiful.
If you're interested, I can give you better directions and trail recommendations.
If we're feeling particularly energized that sounds fantastic. I'm sure we can find our way around, but if you've got a favorite trail you can recommend, that would be great. Preferably something that wouldn't take more than a few hours at most. We're driving a bunch of high schoolers back to MI very early Saturday morning (or Friday night, not sure yet), so we'll need quite a bit of rest before that.
The turtle rock loop is around 3 miles and mostly flat. I don't really find the city of Cheyenne that pretty of a city, and while there are things to do in the city, getting out of the city and talking a walk through the mountains is what every good Wyomingite dreams about.
Also, you can visit some of my field sites if you want. Woo, science!
People will think I'm crazy, because I'm going to ask everyone I meet if their name is David.
ask them if they are David: Frequenter of Turtle Rock Loop.
Also, do you need a coach to sleep on for a night?

is that in Oregon Trail??
Only one thing to do. Get Drunk.
