OT: Gruden @ HS spring practice on SC
Just wanted to give a heads up about a little series on the morning Sportscenters. Jon Gruden helped out a high school team for their 3 week spring practice. Parts 1 and 2 were today with him at practice giving pointers to the kids, then in the film room with the coaches.
Seems like he really enjoys coaching and would want to get back into it
The contract he signed with ESPN for MNF keeps him where he is for at least a couple years. I'm happy with that b/c there were so many misses before they finally hit by choosing him.
I think he does a really good job for MNF. Even when I don't agree with what he is saying, he says it with such conviction and emotion it is compelling and entertaining. keep it up, Chucky.

In all honesty though I did hear at one point his one of his dream jobs would be to coach Michigan. Of course, another dream job I heard he had was to coach Notre Dame. If we wanted to get back to the Bo way of doing things, well, how would Bo feel about that? To hell with Notre Dame!
Big difference between coaching a few players here and there and head coaching an NFL/college football team.
Those guys put in some serious hours and are under a ton of stress.
He does seem to really enjoy it though, and I would love to see him come back to coaching sometime in the future.
Gruden has said that he's really comfortable with the booth. He gets paid good money, only puts in 1/100th of the work that he would have to if he was coaching again, and gets to spend more time with the family. Pretty sweetheart situation for him actually.
So apparently the rules on the # of coaches you can have are a little less stringent in high school than college? I'm surprised this isn't a violation of some kind.

Referring to his son as a "sawed-off Tim Tebow" after a nice run was pretty funny.
If Gruden ever goes back to coaching, I hope it's in college. Gurden is ingratiating at first, but his act wears thin after four or five years. In college, you only have a kid for four or five years. This sounds like the proverbial "match made in heaven."
Probably fun and relaxing for him.
Wonder how one would price his services for doing this with High School staffs? It would seem that there would be a market to have Gruden to come in as a consultant, and there are a lot of high schools that have the booster support to do so. Might be kind of cool to have a hobby that could pay big bucks.
is the man and was a phenomenal hire by ESPN...he is probably helping out the OL at his son's high school because as far as I know, his son is the quarterback and he probably doesn't want him getting hurt.
