At WVU Rich Rodriguez stayed for years and turned an average program into a great one.  He did not cheat and he did not embarrass the University.  Lane Kiffin shows up in Knoxville, changes everything, acts the fool, runs up a bunch of (secondary?) violations, has coeds "host" recruits, insults everyone in sight and leaves after one year for a school about to get hammered for egregious violations that occured when Kiffin was an assistant there.  WVU felt jilted.  Tennessee was used and kicked to the curb.  Not that I feel bad about that.

I thought the whole "Got _____?" was played out already?

If they had gone with something like "All of your sanctions are belong to Lane" I would probably chuckle.

That would be hilarious to the small percentage of us who are familiar with the expression. Unfortunately I'm guessing that 90% of LA traffic doesn't even know what Counterstrike is (think any woman over 40, any child under 10, anybody that doesnt spend a lot of time on the internet, etc.) so the prevailing opinion of LA drivers would just be that Tennessee was full of people with no idea how to appropriately construct sentences.

Fair point. I'd first heard of it during Counterstrike years ago but I guess it predates that even. My general point wasnt so much the origination of the phrase as to what demographics would know what the hell was going on. I think my point about women over 40, children under 10, and people not using the internet that much still stands with regards to web meme flash animations.

That I immediately thought of the French knights from The Holy Grail when I saw the word "taunt?"

"Your mother was a hampster and your father smells of elderberries!"

There are some obvious differences here, such as RR having tons more integrity and spending enough time at WVU to take them to another level, but the reactions of the schools are similar.  I think KIffin is a reptile, but both WV and TN seem to have something contaminating their water supplies that causes an inability to let go of petty vindictiveness.  The billboards are pretty funny, but I can't imagine Michigan boosters wasting the time or money to do anything like this.

The agent that contaminates the water is anger.

If it were up to me, and it isn't, I would hold coaches to a one year "do not coach" rule for any coach leaving an institution prior to completion of his contract.  Regardless of who the coach is, and I think we know two recent examples, I cannot ever justify a coach leaving his team between the end of the season and a bowl game. From my perhaps myopic sense of fairness, you owe your players something.

That's true. It's even better when its someone unaffiliated with Michigan taking the low road against someone I dislike that way I get all the enjoyment and none of the guilt-by-association attached.
